My SFP Connection Setup Chart

Sound in a concert hall and sound in a jazz cafe are the same !.. the music is different!

Well, you know what I mean. The environment, the acoustics, etc.

I think maybe I didn’t translate exactly what I wanted to say. It is not about comparing audition rooms, but about how an instrument is heard in reality and how it is reproduced by home equipment.

TomT < is rs130 and rd160 a good combo compared to what you have tried before?

Yes, it is the best combo I ever have so far. Surely it still has weaknesses, but I am quite happy with what it performs.

Thank you. Nice to know TomT
Can you mention some of your previous streamer/dac combo’s ?

Macintosh, Weiss, Bricasti, Aurender, Eversolo.
Or maybe I’d better say the RS130+Rd160 is the combo that please me most so far.

I know two of them. Thank you TomT

The sw-10 is still available. Bought one couple months ago. Was happy at the beginning, made my soundstage more dark if I should say so ram with it for a month and decided to try without. I realized all the space, the openness and the details I was losing with the switch so I sold it and went back straight from my router to my rs130.

That bad – the SW10 ? I am expecting its newer version to come. I’d better consider more.
BTW, what router are you using now ?

Here is Montreal we need to use the router provided by our isp. I’m with Bell and they have the Hub 4000, here is a link of the review: Review: Bell Home Hub 4000 | The IT Nerd

It seems to be a very decent modem provided for free. The modem is sitting close to my RS130 and I’m using a Wireworld platinum ethernet cable between both and a Amphenol DAC cable between my RS130 and RD160. I tried optical but I got better result with that DAC cable that is using copper instead of fiber. I have a very revealing system so I’m able to ear any change at any level in my system. I need to be prudent … Adding a network switch between my router and my streamer made me lose quality at the end. By experience, anything with filters also been filtering my music, not only the noise. I tried Shunyata power cable and it was the samething, compare to the power cable at using at similar price, adding a cable with a filter that is suppose to remove noise was working but also removing harmonics in the music.

Thanks for the details. My LAN cable has a filter and it sounds good. But I’ll try to test with another cable without filter to see if harmonics are affected in my case.
Thanks again.

I like your spirit and I applaud the use of fiber into the streamer and as the link from the streamer to the DAC…
…however…
…you really do NOT need fiber all the way to that (typically) trashy router and even that (typically) trashy modem. The fiber isn’t useful for audio as you are not loosing data and the protocols prevent corrupting data.
—> I know the difference between quality power/interconnect/speaker cables in audio and lesser cables in audio. I have done the A/B years ago and I am a believer based on A/B blind testing and multiple listeners confirmation. I’ve worked hard to have multiple highly resolving, black background, sound space blah blah systems: SOLD!
→ Te same does not apply in a realm where data is data. The only factors are reliable connections at speed to allow the content to appear before it is verified and needed --and-- limiting the introduction of extraneous EM noise entering the streamer WITH the data. If the last connection to the streamer is optical: Done.
