Hi you two,

I just got back from the dentist—everything’s fine; she just removed a bit of tartar. Afterward, I went shopping and bought a big bag of popcorn. Unfortunately, my groceries are still sitting in their bags, because what’s going on here is way more interesting than unpacking them! But what I did do was rip open that big bag of popcorn and sit here reading.

It’s quite a show! And a big bag of popcorn

P.S.
Mikey, you can fight back with every ounce of strength you have, but against Boris, you don’t stand a chance.
Please—just accept it! :hugs:

Yes, I have! But my little Mickey Mouse—the 3.0 version—is backward compatible; plus, there are tons of USB 2.0 to USB-B cables available.

Did you fail to open the other link again, and jump the gun once more?

Bonte,
Again, I am pulling my punches.

Its never a good idea to punch down.

The other link was to a cable and not an adapter.

I have USB-C to USB-B(3.0) cables for other gear.
I picked up a USB-A to USB-B (2.0) because there isn’t a USB-C to USB-B (2.0)

I’m sure that somewhere a USB-C to USB-B (2.0) cable or adapter exists… just not in my neck of the woods. I could walk down to MicroCenter and pick up what I need. Or around the corner to Best Buy, but they don’t usually have what I want in stock.

The point of all of this… you can get OTS components and connect external devices. Or if you’re good w a soldering iron and have time… make your own cables. This way you don’t ‘degrade’ your signal path w each adapter.

Well, I think it’s better this way—because Boris has the stronger arguments!

Besides, if you really started going all out, I don’t know what kind of heavy artillery Boris would roll out in response. Then Rose would just pull the emergency brake again, and that would be a shame… :slightly_frowning_face: 🥲

Oh and Bonte,

I did find an example of why you have some cables as ‘directional’.
It seems that some build cables that are grounded at the source and not at the target so it should be plugged in a specific direction.

Now I don’ think that is what some mean about directional cables where they talk about the crystaline structures of the metal being in a specific direction… or some other nonsense like that.

Just listening to a friend’s YT video review of the OA Starkrimson mono blocs. Pretty good and honest.

Sorry I didn’t see this part of the message where @Bonte talked about backwards compatibility.
No its not.
The USB-B 3.0 connector will not fit into a USB-B (2.0) connection.
HOWEVER You can plug a USB-B (2.0) connector into a USB-B (3.0) socket.

So if you have a Rose that has a 2.0 connection… you need a 2.0 connector the 3.0 will not fit.
