This RD160 is just exceptional!

I use the Conductor app on my Aurender. But Roon is definitely something to consider as well, thank you :+1:

I’m also keeping my eyes open for a used McIntosh MQ 112 equalizer

I use Roon on the dac output for my 150 , the Hd 800 S really benefits from the bass boost.

But using the same Rose device as output for your speakers will be a problem.
I use the dsp in my active speakers to put things linear again :wink:

Yes, the HD800S only needs a little push in the bass to be perfect :slightly_smiling_face:
I don’t actually plan on using Roon; I actually quite like the Conductor app. I just need to figure out something for that little bit of bass offset.

Tomorrow I’ll connect the C47 to the RD160 to see how the headphone output performs. It’s no match for the McIntosh DAC (ten years old), then the Vincent head amp.is significantly better.

yes, 160 —> C47 —> headphones vs 160 —> Vincent —> headphones

I’ve tried a few things, but the C47 as a headphone amp only isn’t really an option. However, I still have a Focal Elear, and it sounds great with the RD160 and Vincent KHV200 without any tone controls. I think I’ll sell the HD800S and use only the Focal.I just need to buy some longer RCA cables so I can give the Vincent a better spot :slightly_smiling_face:I’m still very happy with the HIFI Rose gear, it sounds amazing :+1:

I’m having a minor problem with the RD160 remote control. Sometimes it doesn’t respond to signals from the remote. I have to turn the device completely off and on again, and then it works again. Is anyone else with this DAC experiencing this, and what can I do?

yes, same issue happens on my RD160 too

hi @TomT
When the remote control doesn’t respond,
does it respond when you press the front buttons on the device?
Please send me the remote control’s MENU > SYSTEM VERSION > CPU version and I’ll check.

Hi @Rose_love

The situation happens most after the RD160 switched between different inputs. I would say once in every 20-30 switches.

When this happens, only the power button on the device works. I remember once or twice I needed to unplug the power cable to recover the error.

Version of my unit is: CPU: v1.24 and MCU:v1.0.1

I know there’s a newer version but I have no intention to upgrade it since there are users reporting the newer version generates other issues.

Frankly, the issue doesn’t bother me much as I mainly use USB only. But glad to see you guys promptly taking action to resolve it.

Thank you

@TomT
Thank you for your comment.
If you find the current version inconvenient, please share your email address and we’ll send you an improved version.
The RD160 uses a manual USB update, not an automatic update, so if you encounter any issues, you can roll back.

Hello @Rose_love

My unit version is: CPU: v1.24 and MCU:v1.0.1

Thank you,
Arjan

Same issue for mine.

I would be delighted to test your new version; version 1.34 isn’t great, and I no longer have the old files to revert to the previous version.

I would like you to send me this new version, as well as version 1.17, which I found to be the best in terms of sound.
patrice.perreira@gmail.com

Yes.
Please send me the latest version, plus my current v1.24 and v1.17, just in case I need to roll back to earlier versions.
Thank you very much

@PatriceP
I’ll send you the version you requested by email.
I don’t see any sound-related improvements.
What is your primary output?
Please apply the version I’ve provided and let me know your feedback. I’ll review it in the same environment.
Thank you for your interest in the RD160.

@TomT
I have sent your request via email.
Thank you.

Thank you so much @Rose_love
The files are well received. :smile:

@ROSE_LOVE,

Could you give us here you email adress ?
I don’t write here my adress mail for the others.

Thanks
