03. DLNA(Media Server) Playback Feature Added

I have a RS130
I have downloaded and installed Version 5.9 software update.
I use the media server within my Synology NAS and I use the Audio Station player also from Synology DS.
I do not use the Rose app.

After installing the update, the RS130 is no longer recognised by the Audio Station player app. All other DLNA devices are recognised, just not RS130. The Rose app seems to be ok. There are no changes to IP address, etc. Nothing was changed, just the update.

I wanted to roll back to the previous version before up date, but cannot find anywhere to do that on either the RS130 device, or the Rose app.

As part of the release of the update, this was included in the detail;
03. DLNA(Media Server) Playback Feature Added
Has this “new” feature compromised my existing system?
How can I roll back to the earlier software version?

@KitWalker

If your RS130 version is Official and you want to roll back to the Official version, please follow the steps below: RS130–>Settings–>System settings–>Use the Early Access version–>Try

ROSEHAN,

I have been struggling to make the DLNA controller function work (not renderer) on my RS 520. I see that mcmsi can get it to work by connecting through the networking function on his Rose device to a DLNA server. I have enabled the DLNA function in my RS 520 and am running Firestream on my Mac. Still, searching the network on the 520 does not show the controller as it does for mcemsi see below.

How do I get to the same place on my RS 520?

Found it. You need to start up and run a DLNA server first. Doh!

Ok, that action has now restored the previous OS and Rose has been restored as a DLNA client with my Synology DS.
Thank you.
However, I should point out that this issue of Synology media server being unable to recognise RS130 as a DLNA client, is not the first time it has occured. Two years ago I advised of the same problem and was provided with a patch.
Can I request you do the same (provide a patch) as I would rather being using the latest software

As a further point to request the RS130 software includes provision for the Synology DS media player in my prior message, when I was sent the patch to allow the use of Synology with Rose, one glaring problem was the shifting from the playing track to the next track at the end of the track.

The amount of time that this transition takes gets longer with the number of tracks which have already been played.

I have not seen this sequence with other DLNA streaming devices I currently use, such as Naim and Yamaha. The transition with those devices is seamless.

Maybe it has something to do with the Android based system you use with this device.

For whatever reason, this shouldnt be happening and is very irritating and not up to expectation for a device such as the RS130.

I have been hoping these issues would be corrected with new iterations of the OS, however this latest problem which required a roll back, tells me that nothing is being done at Rose for compatibility with Synology DS.

It is now 2 weeks since I alerted you to the problem between Synology Audio Station app and RS130 software update. I had requested a patch or fix that allows the Rose software compatibility with Synology software. I have not had a response. Please reply that this is being addressed as a non-reply would indicate no interest from you.

@KitWalker

Regarding your RS130 and the Version 5.9 software update, please note that there is no user-accessible option to roll back to a previous firmware version once the device has been updated. However, we are aware of a few compatibility issues that may arise with certain third-party applications, such as Synology’s Audio Station, following the recent update.

To help resolve the issue:

  1. Please ensure that the RS130 and Synology NAS are on the same network and subnet.

  2. Try rebooting both the RS130 and the Synology NAS.

  3. Check if the RS130 appears in other DLNA controller apps (e.g., BubbleUPnP or mConnect) to confirm DLNA functionality.

  4. If the issue persists, please share any specific error messages or screenshots with our support team for further analysis.

My first post here on 8th July was alerting Rose to the inability of Synology Audio Station/Media Server to work with Version 5.9
(I had a similar problem 2 years ago and was sent a patch to allow compatibility. This worked but with defects, some of which I explained with screenshots in an earlier post on this thread.)
To remedy the current issue, you recommended rolling back to Version 5.8 and you explained how to do this with the Early Access button.
I did this and resolved the issue, but the incompatibility with 5.9 remains as you have not provided Synology DLNA users with a solution. Your suggestions above are irrelevant and not addressed to the issue with 5.9 compatibility.
If you cant resolve this issue you seem to have with Synology DLNA, you are then sentencing me and other users to be stuck on 5.8 into the future, being unable to use the latest software.
This is not a satisfactory outcome.

@KitWalker

As you can see in the picture below, it is still visible in the list in Audio Station even in software version 5.9, but could you please explain in detail where you are having trouble?

Additionally, is the DLNA service enabled on your software version 5.9?

I was going to go through an A:B comparison between 5.8 and 5.9 on this issue, but the system message has informed me I have the latest software, being 5.8, meaning I cant upgrade. I suppose because I rolled back by going to Early Access version.
Can you advise how to access 5.9?

@KitWalker

I’ll tell you how to update from version 5.8 to version 5.9.
