So my question is
What should the rs150b output setting be in when using a external dac in i2s ie
MQA TYPE ?
PCM resampling freq ?
DSD mode ?
Or do none of above work when using external dac

It is difficult to say what is correct and what is incorrect when it comes to MQA TYPE, PCM resampling frequency, and DSD mode settings.
If you want to use the features of the external DAC you are using, please set it as follows.
For MQA TYPE, set Authenticator, PCM resampling frequency, Max sample rate to Auto, and Resample rate to original.
When using i2S connection, DSD mode supports up to DSD512 when set to Native.
When setting up DSD over PCM, it supports up to DSD256.
When using DSD to PCM, up to DSD128 is supported.
