A simple question about the SSD cover

I have an RS 130. The back has the internal SSD cover.
The cover is held down by two small screws.
One of the screws has stripped.
What size are they?
The manual shows them but doesn’t say what size they are.

Why not measuring the screw you did not yet ruin  no i don’t own a 130.

Andre,

Good point. However, I’m lazy and I’m old and have just given away most of my tools.
Besides, don’t you think it’s reasonable for HiFi Rose to list the screw size in their manual?

Rose’s manuals are a joke.

Take the good screw to a decent hardware store and they will tell you what it is.

Eleven,

Decent hardware store? Those vanished long ago along with employees who actually knew what a screw was.

There is another topic about Rose refusing to identify a certain part on a pcb. They also do not give out Service Manuals. Altogether very bad customercare :frowning:

Hi, user manual is not the place for listing screws, usually that’s reserved for service manuals.
Anyway my guess would be that it is the same screw as used for SATA2.5 SSDs mounting bays, eg M3. Short ones, idk 3-4-5 mm

Serge,

Thanks for your input. I did some sleuthing and measuring and it appears to be M2X3mm
It doesn’t seem that the moderators here would want to keep this a deep dark secret.

Addendum

What is particularly disappointing is that your question was entirely legitimate and benign. It wasn’t confrontational or unreasonable—it was simply a customer asking for clarification. Yet, once again, there has been no response from HiFi ROSE.

That becomes a much bigger problem when this forum is effectively one of the few outlets customers have for getting answers, and even straightforward questions go unanswered.

The situation in the U.S. is even more concerning. HiFi ROSE made a significant announcement about taking direct control of the U.S. market and establishing HiFi ROSE USA, yet the transition appears to have occurred without the customer-facing infrastructure being fully in place. Emails sent to the newly established HiFi ROSE USA address have gone unanswered, basic questions remain unresolved, and customers are left trying to figure out for themselves who is actually responsible for sales, service, warranty support, parts, and communication.

That’s not simply a communication issue; it raises legitimate questions about planning and execution. If you’re going to eliminate an established U.S. distributor and take over one of your major markets directly, the support structure should be operational before the transition—not something customers watch being assembled afterward.

I genuinely hope they get this sorted out because I like their products. But between the unanswered questions, previous commitments that have gone unfulfilled, and what appears to be a poorly coordinated U.S. transition, I do find myself wondering whether we’re witnessing growing pains from a company restructuring its U.S. business—or the beginning of something considerably more troubling.

I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt because it is the weekend in Korea. And it is late August.

OP figured it out with help from here, and that is a good thing.

I agree that screw size is not an owner’s manual item. That level of specificity is more likely in a service manual. That said, I do believe that Rose’s owner’s manuals are well below average.
