About the NEXT 1265WBTA wifi/bluetooth dongle

Just today i understood that all ROSE audio players can only be used with a single model wifi/bluetooth dongle available only in South Korea.

This situation renders the equipment i bought (RS520) partly useless.
The distributor/shop takes a long time to answer.
The distributor can not deliver a replacement for the NEXT 1265WBTA.
ROSE can not recommend compatible replacements because there aren’t any
There are no compatible alternatives on the market (Europe) which can be bought as a replacement.
What will happen if in a few years time the dongle breaks again and production has stopped?
I can not do anything…

What can be done to bring more safety to an investment into a audio player? I expect this equipment to function for a time range of 5-10 years inkl. availability of spare parts.

PS; as a temporary solution i attached an ethernet cable from the router to the RS520 to get a connection.

From Android;

A solution for a generic Bluetooth driver in Android is described here. Sure there is one for wifi/bluetooth dongles as well.
Would that be the way to integrate any wifi/bluetooth dongle in Rose devices not just a single model from one manufacturer?

Hi,
I just asked a similar question.

Really the question is what drivers are already built in to the OS.
I would imagine there may be some plug and play if the drivers can recognize the device.

I was thinking about picking up cheap wifi only dongle or BT only dongle and seeing if it can be recognized. It would be great if it did because that would answer the question about what is included in their OS.

For Rose, here’s the benefit…
If you included some generic device drivers, you then can let users upgrade to BT 5.x or WiFi 6 or later without having to make any hardware changes. This is a massive competitive advantage when people who buy All in Ones like the RS520 tend to stream via Airplay or BT from a different device.

@Smegel

We currently have tested the following dongles for Rose devices and they are compatible.

  1. NEXT 531WBT from Easynet Ubiquitous
  2. NEXT 1265WBTA from Easynet Ubiquitous

Please let us know the model name of the BT/WiFi dongle you are planning to use, and we will determine internally whether it is compatible with Rose devices or not and let you know.
