Additional "UNKNOWN" tracks that can't play? Anyone any idea? Software issue or just me

Hi all, upgraded to latest firmware 5.7.

I’ve been experiencing the above subject issue with both previous and latest firmware.

#1 I am using a 2TB SSD inside RS130.
#2 Format it using RS130
#3 Copied all my musics (Flac, AIFF, DSD, etc) to it.
#3.a All musics are organised properly in my NAS and similarly in the Rose SSD.
#4 Scan DB.

As you can see from this 1 example, in the SSD folder of this female singer, only 1 folder of her album. In this album folder - 9 songs (Flac).

But on the MUSIC tab for this singer album, there are 18 songs, first 9 - “UNKNOWN” and I can’t play nor delete.

Anyway to correct this errors? Is it me or the software?

I have approx. 3700+ songs, and this happen on maybe 5-6 albums.

Rose support and all users, your experience would help.

Having paid for this high end streamer, I would like a clean working interface.

The RS130 is able to play songs but this is annoying.

You are experiencing these things because of the new 5.7 software, my friend. The incompetent ones broke everything that was supposed to be new software. :rage:

@Rtankm

Have you ever done a DB reset and had the database rescanned???

Can you get rid of the dead data then???

Or have you ever deleted your cache???

Yes, tried various:-

Point, there are no unknown music files or additional files in my NAS. Later copied into Rose SSD, in SSD no such unknown music files as well.

#1 Delete DB and rescan - doens’t work
#2 Format SSD (using rose), copied music files into SSD, scan. - doesn’t work

Realised it only affected FLAC files that I purchased from Hifi tracks or HD tracks. I converted them to AIFF uncompresses lossless and the problem seem to go away.

I am using Mac mini connected to QNAP NAS and Rose RS130 for the transfer of files. Can it be Mac doesn’t transfer FLAC properly but okay for AIFF?

Rose Technical support, any insight or comments will be helpful

Thanks all.

Same here - most of my music is dead.
I’m stuck with a brick.

I am having the same issue. Any resolution to this?

I have multiple folders with unknown songs. Sometimes it is a stand alone along with a good folder of flac files and some folders have UNKNOWN songs that are mixed in with valid music files.

Occurs for files that I have bought/downloaded and converted from CDs.

What is interesting is the folders with multiple CDs will list all of the UNKNOWNs for the multiple CDs in one folder whereas there are separate folders of valid music files for each of the multiple CDs.

Not affecting playback and don’t seem to be missing original music files, but agree with original poster that the UNKNOWN listings are annoying.

Thanks!

Hi ronblack,

I faced similar issues like you with music purchased from websites like HDtracks and Hifitacks. I purchased them and selected flac format.

I resolved this by converting them to AIFF format using dbpoweramp software. So now I don’t have any of these “UNKNOWN” tags.

Hope this help.

@hifirose - I would like to request Rose Hifi, to look into this issue as it is annoying. In addition, for me personally the App interface for iphone/andriod be simpler interface. It is too complicated for high end hifi enthusiasts.

Thanks.

Dear Hi-Fi Rose users

We are currently working on a fix for the DB related issue and will be rolling out an update this week.
Once the update is released, please check if the same symptoms appear after the update.
