Artist "unknown" after ripping CD

Hello,
I’ve bought an internal SSD and I installed it in the RS250 location.
When I ripp the CDs, all the artists are called “unknown”.

It’s a litte annoying, and impossible I think to rectify without disassembling the SSD ???
maybe I’m doing something wrong.
Thanks and nice day

Hello,

“Unknown” happens when there’s no data about the CD in our database.
We are preparing to expand the CD information.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you,

Hello,
thanks for your reply !
Nice day
Hervé

I have the same problem with ‘unknown’ artists’. I can understand that if you do not have data in the database, this is possibly the case. However:

  1. I ripped 2 songs from the ‘Powderfinger’ album ‘Unreleased’. I stopped the ripping process after 2 songs because I wanted to rip in wav, but it defaulted to flac. I redid the process with wav selected. The 2 songs in flac had the artists names in the details, but the wav songs were by unknown artists.

  2. I ripped The Beatles album Abbey Road. This is a well known album released 50 years ago. It still says unknown.

Thanks

My Rose did not recognise Michael Jackson’ Thriller album … Go figure …

Has this been done or will it be done soon? Today i revived my Rose RA780 drive and first disc not recognised

I’m not sure if Rose reads the file tags or if they read the actual file name. I started streaming with Sonos followed by Heos, and BlueSound. I bought a program for $30 USD titled TAG&RENAME. This program lets you edit the metadata as well as add art work. I have an external SSD connected to my RS130 and rip my music from CD or download and drag the music to the Rose as a mapped network drive. This program saved me as I can edit the file tags if the information isn’t correct. I have been ripping my music into ALAC format as of late. Most of my collect is WAV files as I have plenty of disk storage available and I have them tagged so most music streamers can interpret it. Hope that helps.

Please check the video below first. And please answer some questions.

  1. What device did you connect your RSA780 CD ROM to?
  2. When you connect your RSA780 to another device, do you hear a buzzing sound from your RSA780 reading the CD?
  3. Does your RSA780 not recognize all your CDs? If there is a specific CD that it does not recognize, please tell me the CD name.

It’s ok I’m using dbpoweramp and then copying them on to my rosedisk across the network from my pc
