I have rs451 and ra280, connected via xlr. This my story - Yesterday updated rs451 to newest firmware, and very disappointed its with bugs. Then connected to phone by blutetooth no sound! Testet from tv via optical
No sound! Turned off waited for some time - tryed to work - sounds appeared but very low, looks like on 50% like 20% earlier. Tryed to find solution - changed sourse by mechanical swith on front in rs451 and then back, sound volume was restored like earlier. But still not working correctly- then changing source from optical and Bluetooth getting no sound! Back to bluetooth no sound :(, its really something with firmware, can it be fixed or how to return to previous. Or how to fix is nonsense each time switching sources few time to get a sound.

I have the same situation, volume output loss more than 50%. Updated 5.11.08 still the same.

I have the RS151, but experienced the same issue after updating software.
The solution for me was to augment the “pre-out level setting” to 200 or 300 milivolts (or more).
Same as you I use the “software volume control” of the RS151, but by augmenting the (reachable!) level in “pre-out level setting” you get in a higher level area with the software volume control.
With connect one app: parameters → in-out setting → output → wheel at analog outputs → pre-out level settings → 3000 mV → confirm → add/apply.
Then you can set “pre-out level setting” to “off” again.
It works with my RS 151, hopefully it does also with your RS451 . .
yes volume can be fixed, (but then turning off and turing on - no volume again or its vey quiet, change mv in settings again and it apears) also FW has more 2 issue: VU meter show on max level, and u cant switch between sources, example try BT and switch Optical - no sound at all. with older firmware no issues, after upgrade im very dissapointed, expensive devices and so many problems. Later will try upgrade to 5.11.08, will write its fixed or no.
updated rs451 to 5.11.08, switching source - ok. but still issues. then on xlr settings do 1000mv volume ~15% VU meter on RA280 shows ~60%. then enabling software volume control on, volume have to setup min 50% to hear something, at 90% volume is like 30% few days ago without updated. its not a situacion fix use only by lowering mv and without softare volume button (i cant volume down from iphone), can u give me older firmware? what was 2 days ago., i will update in future then u fix all bugs.

The “Software Volume Control” option is designed for use when using digital outputs on the Rose streamer. When digital output is active, the streamer cannot adjust the volume directly by default; enabling Software Volume Control allows digital attenuation so you can control the volume.
Therefore, when using the XLR or RCA analog outputs, there is no need to turn Software Volume Control ON.
Please try setting Software Volume Control to OFF, and adjust the “Pre-out level settings” to match or closely align with your amplifier’s input sensitivity.
If you do not know the amplifier’s input sensitivity, 2000 mV is commonly used as a standard value. Could you test it set to 2000 mV and let us know if the volume is too low, too high, or at an appropriate level?

Software Volume Control is NEEDED for 80% of users ! - then i connect it over BT by phone i cant adjust by phone ! so was smart device - now is just device.
another situacion - Software Volume Control ON older firmware all ok, on 5.11.0.8 u have to volume up 50% to hear something - on 90% u can listen
music, what noncence, i have newer did more then 70% as volume was so loud ! so wats somethere is gone -
then software volume control is off on rs451 - 2000 mV is to high, on RA280 VU meters event on 25% volume is showing almost MAX level, need 1000mV or less then VU meter shows 50-60%. but its not a fix - u cant use by phone to adjust volume.
Support Guys just fix firmware how it was - its not only bad for me.

If you are using analog outputs (XLR and RCA) on models like the RS151 or RS451, there is no need to turn on Software Volume Control.
Software Volume Control is a feature designed specifically to enable volume adjustment when using digital outputs. XLR and RCA, on the other hand, are analog outputs.
The Pre-out Level Setting feature fixes the output level of the Rose streamer to a specific value. In your case, it seems you were using 2000 mV. Because this setting fixes the output level, volume adjustment on the streamer itself is locked. If you wish to control the volume using your smartphone, simply turn Pre-out Level Setting to OFF.
Please apply the following settings:
- RS451 > IN/OUT Settings > Output Settings (gear icon) > Software Volume Control > OFF > Apply
- RS451 > IN/OUT Settings > Output Settings (gear icon) > Pre-out Level Setting > OFF > Apply
With both settings turned OFF, the output volume will return to normal levels, and you will be able to adjust the volume using your smartphone.
check your self, in this way VU meters shows MAX level on both rs451 and ra280 (on volume ~20%). if u lower u can reach a half of VU meters level - its BUG. now i downgraded to 5.11.03 - no issues, works perfectly, just every time it goes from sleep mode always shows is new update, is it possible to add function in future → do dont check automatically for newer version.
my setting i/o now all preout level,software volume all OFF and now my adjustable volume is back. I need this volume control for Rosetube as those uploaded video has big differences on volume.
