Can’t control volume with remote control and app

Hello, I just bought a Rose RS250A connected to a DAC through optical output.
It seems it is not possible to control volume with either the Bluetooth remote control nor the app.
Any suggestions on how to solve that?
Thanks in advance

When using the optical digital output, the RS250A sends a fixed digital signal, so the volume cannot normally be controlled by the remote or the app. In this case, you would typically need to adjust the volume on your external DAC or amplifier.

However, for user convenience, there is also a way to enable volume control even when using digital outputs:

  • On your RS250A, go to I/O Settings.
  • On the Output side, tap the small gear icon.
  • Enable the Software Volume Control function, then press Apply in the upper right corner.

Software Volume Control

  • Some USB DACs support UAC2 volume control, while others support HID volume control. In such cases, when you adjust the volume on the Rose, the volume command is sent to the DAC to control the volume.
  • If this feature is not supported by your DAC, you can enable Software Volume Control in the USB DAC settings under I/O settings, and then adjust the volume via the Rose App.

Cautions:

  1. This function cannot be used in Native DSD or DSD over PCM mode. It only works when converted to DSD to PCM (up to DSD128).
  2. For digital output, MQA stream is supported only when the volume is set to MAX. If it is less than MAX, MQA stream is not supported.
