Can’t shuffle play folders

Hello,

I’ve noticed when I’m in the music app and I navigate to the internal SSD Drive (or a network storage shared folder) I have all my music files organized in folders and sometimes, I want to just shuffle play any of the contents of these folders.

It seems that the rose 150 B can only shuffle play actual files, not the folders that contain these files.

It would be a nice feature to somehow add this ability in rose function.

This way I can enjoy random songs across my collection organized in folders much more quickly than any other way, at least as far as I can tell.

UPDATE: i’ve noticed that other folders with similar organization, do function with the play all and shuffle play buttons. Please note I just added half a terabyte of new organized folders today when I observed the play anll and shuffle play buttons don’t work with the parent folder.

Is it because rose 150 B needs to re-catalog the new folders?

Is that something I need to initiate or will rose scan it automatically overtime? I imagine with half a terabyte of music files, it would take some time for this scan to complete. If I need to launch manually, please let me know.
Thank you

Currently, the Shuffle Play function is not supported directly in the Folder view on Rose devices.
When playing from a folder, playback follows the file order within that folder.
Shuffle Play is available when using Category, Album, Artist, or Playlist views, as these modes use the music library database (indexed data) rather than direct file browsing.

If you wish to use Shuffle Play for the songs stored in a specific folder, we recommend creating a playlist from that folder and enabling Shuffle Play within the playlist.

@ROSEHAN UPDATE: I am now able to use both “All Play” and “Shuffle Play” within Folder view! I had to wait about 4 days after copying my 1/2 Terabyte external drive to the internal SSD drive on my Rose 150b hardware. This main folder holds:

  • 683 folders
  • 38,391 audio files (all organized within folders)

Apparently, the 150b needed the time to perhaps scan the entire SSD drive again (?), but to my surprise, I went to the parent folder of my newly added music collection today and was able to 1) randomly play audio files from within the entire folder structure as well as 2) play through each of the folders in order.

@taystnotes

I’m glad to hear that your issue has been resolved.
You’re right — if your SSD contains a large number of audio or video files, it may take some time to complete the scanning process.
We are also continuously working on improving the database (DB) scan speed.
