I guess the first question is for Rose and the second is for the forum. Based on power supplies or other factors, is one or the other better on top? Not a good idea?
Yes, the RS130 and RD160 can be physically stacked. However, we recommend placing the RS130 on top of the RD160, rather than the other way around. This is for the following reasons:
- Heat Dissipation: The RD160 (DAC) generates more heat during operation. Placing it on top may block the ventilation of the RS130 (streamer) underneath, potentially affecting performance or longevity.
- Weight Distribution: The RD160 is heavier due to its robust internal design and power supply. Placing the lighter RS130 on top helps prevent strain on the chassis of either unit.
For best performance and thermal management, we also recommend leaving some space between units or using isolation feet or shelves if possible.
Thanks for the guidance on this.
Did you mix up the weights? Or is the information on the official website wrong?
What is the intention of your question?
RD160 weighs 10KG and RS130 weighs 12KG.
I checked the Hifirose website and it is displayed normally.
I think the confusion is in your first response since it seems the RS130 is actually a little heavier.
Thank you Carnelian for helping explain to Rosehan where he is wrong. It seems I was too subtle.
That pretty much says it all about the competence of your answers and statements, Rosehan.
Remember @SPaul that English is not the native language. Being mean isn’t going to get the question answered any faster or better. Maybe @ROSEHAN can re-confirm which is recommended to be on top of which. I’ve assumed thatthe 130 would be on top due to it having more of a computer inside.
Surtout que RS130 dispose d’une aération sur sa partie supérieure que le RD160 n’a pas.
Préférons donc poser le RS130 sur le RD160 afin que l’évacuation naturelle de la chaleur du RS130 se fasse mieux.
The RS130 has those crystal buttons on top. If you wish to use them the RS130 should be on top. Or as Rosehan mentioned. On separate shelves.
Remember Carneol, english is not my native language either!!!
I’m not being mean at all, but I have a long experience with the off-topic replies sent by Rosehan. If you would make a little effort and read the topics RS130, RSA720 and RD160 I assume you would understand.
That’s why I don’t expect any answer from Rosehan. I just pointed out that it’s exactly the opposite of what he said about the weights… In Europe, 12kg is always more than 10kg!
And even if the RS130 is 2 kg heavier than the RD160, this does not prevent the RS130 from being placed on the latter (the boxes are not made of cardboard).
I’m not worried about the weight at all. The two factors that I could imagine might dictate this is heat dissipation and possibly power supply location/interactions.
I posted this as a way to understand this, not to complain about Rose or Han.
