Check item out before you buy it

Why do people post questions on here about functions that HIFi Rose products do and don’t have after having bought it?
Surely you should have checked out the item does what you want before buying it?

I couldnt agree more.

Ive read some questions like an equalizer for some models and actually its quite simpel. If it lacks bass or something else you should check your setup. Add a subwoofer or use tonecontrols / balance on your amplifier. Same goes for roomcorrection or adding something like KODI. If a roseplayer has an eq app its probably because its an ampflifier as well. If you want to enhance sound do so with you amplifier or decide to get a ROON account and use that DSP. The various DAC settings like on my RS150B add a little sound enhancement. But thats just minor.

Did none of them read the manual before buying it or compare functionallity to a Lumin or Aurender? That might manage expectations. I ask myself have they ever been on Lumin or Aurender forums…? None of these questions are being asked over there. People stick to what the player offers because thats what they bought. The rose is ment as a high end AUDIO streamer or integrated and the beautifull screen with videoplayer is a nice extra if you want to use it. Ive never used it. Music is what i want from my rose and it does that perfectly. Ive got a simple Zidoo player in my HT setup from which i have different expectations than my 150B.

Because some support techs inhere take some questions or possible addons in account doesnt make them wizzards. If software is buggy or your facing problems with your machine thats what a techforum is about. Its not about granting wishes. Just because your car has a computer and display how many have asked their manufacturer if Tesla’s autopilot can be installed…?

Those do not belong on an amplifier and anyway interestingly enough it is only the 150 that lacks an equalizer.

While it is odd to expect that Rose supports either, when it has never been claimed that iut does, it’s 2025, not 1965 now, room correction is something that any high-end processor should have. Even a $300 Wiim has it.

Which is all good except that it only works with Roon as a source.

Slight correction. Rose is mean as a device to look at, with great screen and all. As a high-end audio streamer in 2025 it is sadly well behind the curve.

Boris on which part of an audio setup are things like Bass, Treble and Balance commonly found?

That one might find things like roomcorrection on other devices is because it was desigend like that from the start. I find it a bit strange that you mention Rose never claimed it and at the same time mention its 2025 and any high end processor has it. Can you name one brand which wasnt designed to have roomcorrection but on which they implemented it later on. Name one; im curious. Btw do you find things like roomcorrection on streamers like Aurelic or Lumin? And if not so do you think if one would contact tech-service that they would actually add that to a current streamer? And if not why do you think they wouldnt?

Roon as a source. Funny you mention this because your Rose functions as an end point. So which is the actual source is debatable. And you do benefit from settings you altered in the roon dsp setup. Meaning if you enhance bass or treble by using roons dsp you will hear the difference.

And yes given the 150s and 130s pricetag i do consider them highend. But hey if you only want to lean back and watch the screen thats fine with me.

Btw did you mail your the manufacturer of your car that you would like Tesla’s autopilot? Or isnt it possible because it wasnt designed like that…just like the rose isnt for some questions people ask inhere…

Preamp. Which the 150/250 basically are. Power amplifiers generally tend not to include any tone controls. And for proper equalization (again, this is 2025, not 1965) you need PEQ, not just a bass and treble knobs.

So while it might be difficult to add it to the existing products (although Bluesound is adding Dirac to old Nodes just fine) designing it into new ones would make sense. Instead we get 130 and a mediocre DAC that does not even fit in aesthetically.

Lumin is another brand where they entertain sonic differences of fiber brands. But I do find room correction on NADs, BlueSound, Lyngdorf, and even rather mass-market brands like Wiim, EverSolo (although they are starting to price DMP series and almost Rose levels) or Fiio.

Yes, exactly. I have good convolution filters for all of y setups and the sound is great. But it only works if I am playing from Roon. Which is actually fine with me, but if one had bought the Rose to use all the other sources it can play it would be disappointing.

High-end in the sense of charging a lot for (in the case of 130) very little, sure. I am more interested in the sound though.

Which is why I haven’t been asking Rose to retrofit it. THat said, if Dirac can be added to Node/PowerNode it could be added to the Rose products as well. Not quite as good, due to the lack of a separate subwoofer DAC, but good enough.

Pre amp…lol. Just because it fits your argument? You do realise the majority doesnt have pre and poweramps dont you? And no although it can be used as a preamp it was designed and advertised as a network streamer.

Bluesound. Dirac cant be added to old nodes. There are only a few which where designed to be fitted with dirac in the future. Btw why didnt you buy a Wiim or an Eversolo or Fiio? And yes Nad has some of those streamers like an C658 which i had fitted with Dirac from the start. Btw i had an M33 with full Dirac license as well. I bought it set it up and never used it because i did not like the way it sounded.

I keep wondering why you are even on this forum? To you its not high end, and you dont like that they dont implement things people would like to have on their Rose so why are you actually here…? For the pissing contests?

Bottomline one might expect designed software to be flawless but its not Hifiroses fault if features which people would like to have are not on the device because they werent designed like that. They should have done their homework better instead of complaining afterwards.

Integrated amp still has a preamp, even if you do not know it.

Of course properly done, PEQ etc. needs to be done in the digital domain. So you either do it ast the source, in which case you have to do it at every source (and some don’t even have the option) or you do it at one central point, which in the Rose world is the 150/250/520.

It has already been released for the 2024 Node, and it is coming to 2021 N130 (as well as PowerNode and PN Edge). You need to go like 10 years back to find a Node that’s not getting it.

It’s not NAD’s fault that you hear nonexistent differences but can’t set up Dirac correctly, is it?

Have I ever demanded that they implement room correction? It is doable, and it would be a good thing to have, but I can set mine using other tools and it sounds very well. And it works just fine for my usage. It’s just that it is not competitive with what you can get now, and Rose seems to be more interested in adding useless bling to new models rather than doing something that would make the sound better.

It’s not. If someone bought the Rose expecting DRC, or Tidal Connect, or SiriusXM support, it’s totally on them.

Would be good if the features that are advertised worked properly. Well, aty least they got the local music scanning speed up to a reasonable level at least.
