Comparison with the RS 520

If you believe that Boris… sell any Rose gear you have, go buy an eversolo and make everyone happy.

Eversolo doesn’t offer GaN.
In their latest top end DAC they switched from ESS to AKM. Of course in your world, there’s no difference although some audiophiles prefer the AKM to ESS …

Yes, we all know already that you are not particularly bright.

Why would I sell my Roses, at a loss, and buy something that sounds basically the same, when for my (Roon) use case Rose works just fine?

You keep repeating this word, as if you knew what it meant. You don’t. GaN offers no advantage (other then easily selling them to clueless audiophilth like you) at any power levels anything Rose makes delivers.

GaNs are pretty good for phone chargers though. Maybe you should listen to one.

“Some audiophiles” also think there is a difference between power cables, buy $1000 USB connectors, and, as we have one right here, sing praises to mediocre DACs like the 160 even though the only thing they hear is the MiniDSP DAC (and after few more conversions before that). Yeah, that’s a very convincing argument you got there!

And, you do realize, that e.g. Nova Fidelity has been making streamers with big screens up front (some even with built-in CD drives for ripping) long before HiFi Rose, or EverSolo ever existed. In Korea, too. If anything, EverSolo is imitating them. Just like HiFi Rose does. Although the former two, unlike the latter, and least could develop working software.

Boris, trolling as usual?

Again Boris, you add no real value.

You don’t know much about anything.

Just what you parrot from Amir and his crew.

Do you even own any Rose products?

Typical Boris can’t stay on topic and most likely doesn’t own any Rose kit.

Please go away if you can’t add anything to the discussion.

For those who own the 520… the GaN amp is a huge advantage over other class D options.
Purifi based amps are also up there but the TI based amps… fail to compare.

GaNFETs have some advantages, as they can withstand high temperatures and their modulation frequency is in the hundreds of thousands to millions of hertz range, far above what can affect audio. However, modern silicon FETs already do a pretty good job. Bruno Putzeys, who designs some of the best Class-D amplifiers, says that GaNFETs make sense when you need more than a kilowatt of power, where high-voltage silicon overheats and has a much slower modulation. At lower power levels, GaNFETs offer only trivial advantages at their price, where improving feedback is more beneficial.

@BorisM actually confirms the statements made by “master” Bruno Putzeys.

You have Purifi (Bruno) designing his stuff which is good. Marantz modified his design in their latest series… however the higher frequency of the GaN makes it quieter or ‘darker’ so to speak.

Not to mention also fairly efficient. So they can run cooler.

RS520 is less 1w in standby ~40w in idle. which isn’t bad.

And no GaN doesn’t make sense when you need more than 1kW it makes sense at far lower power levels.

Also what you seemed to miss. At the price … the RS520 provides more power than the alternative AIOs.
More than twice the power.

Of course for Boris… he’ll choose his Chi-Fi TDA amp w the brick since all amps sound the same.

Yeah Eversolo seems to have Rose in their sights.

The interesting thing is that for Rose it seems that the international markets are an afterthought and they’ve focused on their Korean markets. I get that.

So while we may view the flow of their menu system to be awkward… they may not. It may make sense culturally. But at the same time… once you get to using it… you adapt.

I like the fact that the RS280 and the RS520 share the same amp.
And if you look at the RS451 you can pair it w the RS280 but that seems like you’re getting the RS520 albeit in two chassis and some other differences.

Now I doubt Boris actually owns any Rose products.

Smegel,

I looked up Citech’s annual report and sales for 2023. They were: (Korea) 16%, and overseas sales 84%. I don’t know what percentages of those were HiFi Rose products.
The sales of HiFi Rose were too small a division to be separately broken out and Citech’s total sales were only about Forty million dollars. It’s a very small company and HiFi Rose is a small part of it. I have no idea whether it’s a good profitable subsidiary business for Citech or not. I hope so. I want them to succeed. I now understand why software development has to be subcontracted.

Considering the limited resources that they have, it’s remarkable how well they have done. Still, it would help a great deal to be more honest and direct in communicating with their customers. To string along customers by saying “we’re working on it” for Qobuz Direct and Spotify Direct wasn’t being fair with customers. I think users would have appreciated a more honest answer of “You are not going to get direct play from Qobuz or Spotify. We are going to sell a separate box for that.” While a disappointment for all existing users, it would have been more honest and fair.

Yeah. Not a major player, but some of the best products come from niche companies.

And when you consider many companies have been gobbled up by the larger conglomerates… just surviving is hard enough.

Boris so why don’t you come out and say what you actually own?
The silence is deafening.

You don’t know much about anything except what you cut and paste from ChatGPT.

Boris… still mad that you can buy CAT 7 cables w RJ45s?

Do you even own an RS520? I doubt it.
Get help Boris and get out of your mommy’s basement.

Ah yes, now we know.
Boris doesn’t own any HiFi Rose products… is just here to be a troll.

I guess everyone needs a hobby.
