I am very satisfied with the sound quality and, ultimately, with the purchase itself.
What I have struggled with a lot, and still do, is operating the device. I am slowly learning a little more each time by simply trying things out and using forums like this one. The user manual, the software, and the Rose One app leave much to be desired.
My question to you is: how do I connect to my Pro Macbook? Both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. The very latest update is installed on the Rose. SMB is enabled. Can someone tell me the correct steps to get this working?
Do you have the Rose Connect One? (From their website.)
Although it may be in the store… or that could only be for the iPhone.
If you can find a USB-C to USB-B (2.0) cable then you can use the USB connection.
Or if you have a USB-A to USB-B (2.0) connection cable you can use that thru a port on a docking station or get a USB-A to USB-C connection.
I have Rose Connect One on my Macbook. The device connects to the Rose without any problems. I also have a USB connection to the Rose. In Finder, under Network, I sometimes see Rose-A9 listed. When I click on this, it asks for the ID and password. In every attempt, it indicates that the ID or password is incorrect. Can I change this,
Did you set a username and password on the 250a’s display for the SMB interface and saved? Yes, I assume so.
If your 250a is on the same home network, it will be visible on your MacBook Pro.
In Finder, go to the menu bar, select “Go,” and then “Connect to Server.” A dialog box will open. Enter the details you set up for SMB on the 250a’s display; in that dialog box, you can also check a box to save the password to your Keychain.
But I’m sure you’ve already done all that.
It has worked for me since the initial setup, which was over a year ago.
If it doesn’t work, I’m afraid I can’t help any further and the guys from Rose will take care of your problem.
You can change the username and password in the SMB settings on the display. I don’t recall exactly how I did it back then. Try turning SMB off and then on again. I assigned a new username and password when I did it. Just experiment a bit—sometimes trial and error beats reading the manual.
Since I completely cut the power to my devices using a switchable power strip, I would recommend rebooting everything once you’ve set the new password and username. That means disconnecting all devices from the power—not just standby mode, but actually unplugging them from the wall. Start by booting up the router, then the MacBook and your Rose device. First, check to see if all the devices appear on the home network. Then, try connecting to the server via Finder.
However:
Keep in mind that if you don’t yet have the new password and username in your keychain, the password manager may still suggest the old password and username (unless you have previously deleted it from the password manager). In that case, you must save the new password and username by checking the box in the password manager.
This might not be very helpful to you, though, since you’ve likely done all of that already.
Well, I thought I could have helped a little.
