Digital Output RS 150B

Hello everyone,
My name is Reza, I live in Germany and I am new to the forum.
Thank you in advance for your advice and suggestions.
I will be getting my RS 150B next week, which I am really looking forward to. It replaces my Lumin U1 and will mainly act as a streamer in my setup in conjunction with my DAC (Cayin CS 100), preamp (ModWright DM 36.5) and speakers (active Backes&Müller). I had the unit with me for a test listen and I really liked it, visually, technically and especially sonically! Compared to the Lumin U1, the RS 150B had a better sound, which is enormous!
I would like to know which digital output is the most direct way to route the signal to my Cayin DAC, bypassing the RS 150B’s internal DAC and bypassing the digital volume control.
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards from Germany

Reza

Hello,

Welcome to HIFIROSE and thank you for your nice greetings:)
We recommend USB more because 192kHz is the limit for OPTICAL and COAXIAL according to the basic specifications. However, the important thing is that you should be satisfied with sound. Regardless of the specifications, some people prefer optical and coaxial sound.
As you have DAC and preamplifier and RS150B supports a lot of IN/OUT settings, you can try various ports. One of the strengths of RS150B is that you can try out a sound that suits you while listening to a variety of sounds.

Hello,
Thank you very much for the quick feedback!
It is also very important to me sonically that the digital signal in the RS 150B finds the most direct path to the external DAC and is not altered by the internal RS 150B converter chip!
At which digital output is the digital volume control automatically switched off?
Does the I2S output have identical bandwidth as the USB output? Last but not least, could you kindly classify the I2S output in terms of sound (like USB?)?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Best regards from Germany
