Display problem

@ROSELOA

Hi, when I say display goes off, I mean the brightness is there on black. The lcd does not turn off totally per say. Whatever is showing does not show but the lcd is on for sure. It never happens on the main menu screen. It usually happens on album art or Vu meters and I usually play Tidal.

I see…

  1. When the screen goes black with backlight on, do you still hear the music from speaker?
    Or the music stops when screen goes off?

  2. How often does the issue occurs?

@ROSELOA

Yes the music is still on. Everything is on. Happens say if I’m listening 7 days, 2 days it shall happen. I’ve started noticing it on happening on VU meter mode. But last night it happened on album art.

Hello,

Please check the message.

With my 150B, i have this problem. Flashing display and blackout after 1 minute. Same thing after factory reset. Screen flash all the time.

I have video but i can’t upload one, sorry !!!

@DanyBoy

Seems like the LCD should be replaced.
Please contact your distributor to get LCD replaced.
Please contact a distributor in the country where you purchased the RS150 for repair.

Thank you

Is this a widespread problem. Should we all expect our display to have issues in the future? Is there plans for a recall or to offer an extension of the warranty to cover this issue?

@ROSEHAN @ROSELOA

Hello,

A large number of HiFiRose products are sold worldwide, and the majority of our customers are using them without any problems. In particular, the RS150B is the most-selling model among various ROSE models. We will do our best to produce without any defects. I apologize if we caused you any concerns, but we ask for your trust in using our products.

I just had this exact same problem. Display went black (with backlight). Music still plating. Remote still working. But no picture. Was playing music from Roon. Only power of and power on got it back.

Hello,

Please contact main distributor where you purchased the Rose streamer.

Mine just did the same thing. Screen blank but backlit. I did a reboot and it is currently working as it should, but should I be concerned. It’s never done that before.

Did you follow up with Rose service after you encountered this problem or has it been fine since you originally restored the screen? Mine just did it for the first time and I had to reboot the player to get it resolved. I’m just wondering if it is a bug or something more serious?

@DHardyG

There doesn’t seem to be any problem in using the part that appears temporarily.
If the Rose device cannot be used normally even when you press the power button, you must contact the distributor in the country where you purchased the Rose device and request repairs.

This phenomenon has been going on for two and a half years, and I ignored it. After a few firmware upgrade, this phenomenon has almost stopped happening again.

@JonnyP

We apologize for the inconvenience.
Please check the following:

  1. Does the display on your RS130 turn off automatically while playing Tidal?
    Is it possible that Automatic Standby Mode or a Sleep Timer is enabled?
  1. Does the same issue occur even after performing a factory reset on your RS130?
    RS130 → Settings → System Settings → Factory Reset
  2. Does the same issue occur after deleting and reinstalling the RoseConnect app?

@JonnyP

Based on the symptoms you described, it appears to be either a software or hardware issue.

If it is a software issue, you can contact the distributor in the country where you purchased your RS130 and send the unit to them. They will reinstall the software for you.

If it is a hardware issue, it is likely related to the power supply.

In conclusion, please contact the distributor in the country where you purchased your RS130 and request a repair.

@JonnyP

I would still recommend that you contact the distributor from whom you purchased your RS130 and explain the situation.
If you have any concerns, please ask them to replace the LCD with a new one or to reinstall the software.

@ROSEHAN @moderators

Please address @JonnyP question as these display failures are now being reported at an increasingly concerning rate.

We’re glad to hear that the LCD issue has not reoccurred since it was first reported.

At this time, there is no specific root cause identified on our side related to this issue.
