Distortion with Rose app

When I stream and use the generic Rose app I can clearly hear a light distortion in higher frequencies.
I did an A/B comparison when streaming from Qobuz app directly to the 520.
When using the Qobuz app and streaming to the 520 the distortion is not there…?

Am I the only one with this problem
(I am not going into the interface of the Rose app hahaha)

Where are you running you Qobuz app and how are you connecting it to the 520?

Over mobile devices iPhone/iPad. Using Qobuz Connect

So Qobuz connect is ok… Qobuz app on the device causes distortion?

Hmmm that is weird.

Have you tried reinstalling the software? It must be a software issue if you’re player can play without distortion. Maybe try reinstalling qobuz or a factory reset.

He’s talking about the player on the Rose so it would have to be a removal of the app and then a reinstall. A full factory reset never hurts either.

But its kinda weird though. I would have thought it would have been reverse.

Good thing about Rose UI is reinstalls are easy and fast, same with factory installs.

Yeah but that’s actually overkill.
A delete and replace the Qobuz app and then a power cycle… should suffice.

Had a weird one the other day… was powering down and on the way down it got stuck mid way, so you could see some icons on the screen but the Rose app was down and you had to do a hard reboot.

This was like a one in a million thing that happens on PCs or other devices where a subsystem didn’t go down clean. Really not reproducible.

I’d agree with that, nearly all my issues could be solved with less than a factory reset.

Thanks for the heads up everybody
I’ll give it a go with the reset.
I agree that is almost unbelievable and I don’t understand either how this is possible

@Joop

Please check a few things for us:

  1. Are you saying that when you use the native Qobuz app and connect to the RS520 via Qobuz Connect, there is no light distortion in the high frequencies, but when you play Qobuz content through the RoseConnect app, you do hear a slight distortion in the high frequencies?
  2. Does the distortion also occur when you play Qobuz content directly on the RS520 itself?
  3. If you log out of your Qobuz account on the RS520 and then log back in, does the same issue still occur?
  4. Without performing a factory reset, if you completely power off the RS520 and then turn it back on, does the same issue appear?
  1. Correct
  2. No, only when using the RoseConnect app over mobile
  3. Yes
  4. Power off did not help, but factory reset did the trick, all good now. Thanks!!

It was just really weird, and not something you ‘might hear’ but clearly audible.
All ok now

Ok, its great that it works now…

Kinda weird… but that its from the app to the RS520 only.

@Joop , if this happens again… I wonder if you download and try this from the Rose One app if that solves the problem…

Owww there are several apps??
Sorry, had no idea
I am using the one attachedIMG_2147

The Rose One is in beta.
I see it in the Apple app store for the iPhone / iPad.

I checked on my iBasso DX180 and I didn’t see it in the play store yet.

So far it seems better than rose connect , and there was a recent update there too.

@Joop

I’m glad to hear that the issue has been resolved.

If the same problem occurs again or if you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know.
