Does Rose 150b support (VLC) .cdg files (Karaoke)?

I enjoy that Rose 150b has VLC built-in! Thank you for that.

On desktop, VLC easily plays mp3/cdg files for fun Karaoke music + lyrics
Would this be something Rose 150b can support too?
It would be great to hear these sing-along tracks through an fantastic stereo system because Rose is now central component.

thank you

Hello,

Would you check the message?

Thank you.

Yes, I see your message, thank you

I tried testing this out myself and it didn’t seem to work. Note I have an SSD installed in my RS150B, it’s running RoseOS 4.2.21

Here’s what I did and what I observed:

  1. Copy CDG file to to SSD on RS150B (I did it over SMB).
  2. In Rose Connect (I was using the MacOS version for this test) Select video
  3. Select older
  4. Select rosedisk
  5. Navigate to location of uploaded CDG.
  6. Notice nothing is displayed. (This view filters out files that don’t have a know video extension. VLC should choose the proper decoder when opening a file based on the content, so provided I can see the cdg file VLC will open it)
  7. Change the 3 file name extension from CDG to AVI. This change gets the file to show up in folder view.
  8. Click something other than video and then navigate back in to video and find the file that was just renamed. It should show up.
  9. Select the video
  10. VLC seems to start and open the file. But it ultimately doesn’t play it. VLC opens but nothing happens.

Hello mitcchnt,

You are right, cdg files won’t work in RS150B.

Thank you,

yep, understood here, as well. Was requesting that a few months earlier. Thanks for validating
