I tried to reformat the internal SSD. After the reformat, the display showed 0 songs and 0 videos. I reinitialized the Db and all the songs are still there?
Is it supposed to be working?

I don’t know and I don’t have the slightest inclination to try.
It’s like going to the hospital and getting the question: “Do you agree to a frontal lobotomy? YES/NO”
A quick format is done in seconds and is just removing the TOC. All the files are still there. Only if the database still remembers what is stored where it is all still accessible. The headers will still be there. If new files are written the old data will be overwritten.
With a full format the disk is checked and all good sectors get a new adress. But the raw data is still there. That will be overwritten too on use. The old data will be jumbled and unreadable.
If you wipe a disk the data will be erased and only faint remnants are left that you can’t read without forensics.
I wouldn’t want to use any of that on the internal disc with precious data.
A full format on consumer products is asking for trouble. Murphy’s law in its proper sense.
Je uitleg klopt alleen wanneer het gaat om harde schijven.
Jeep,
Everything you say is correct. That’s why I keep double backups.
However, I’m having difficulty with the RS 130 still displaying files with zero data so I decided to clean house after trying other alternatives that didn’t work.

Uh, ja da’s waar. Ik heb ook al jaren geen pc meer.
I use a file manager from my phone and I erase files from there. Never noticed filenames staying behind.
If another application or app is using the file you can’t remove it either. So I try renaming it first. If that works I can delete the renamed entry later. If need be after a restart.
Hope that helps.
