External clock for Rose 130

I am using the AfterDark Emperor Double Crown Trifecta 10MHz 10 MHz OCXO Reference Master Clock, I’ve clocked the data on a SOtM usb conditioner and again on the Rose 130, when you add up the cost of using some of the best cables available the cost starts to rise, but when you hear what this can bring to the table there’s no going back…

I’m still happy with my -118dBC @ 1Hz clock but always interested to know if -120 would be even better. Not cheap unfortunately

The Mutec Mc3+ usb has been in my sights for a while, used as a ddc for my Holo May dac and clocked also with the AfterDark clock.

Are you going USB in and 12s out into your dac.?

I wanted to, but I have the esoteric n-05xd dac with no i2s input , so I use aes/xlr input

You should consider the mutec ref 10 if you can , it was designed to work with the mc3. They are the same size and make a killer stack. But then you already have a nice ext clock. Would be cool if someone did a comparison

Mutec are highly regarded especially their clocks, having thoughts over Mc3+ if it’s a little out of date now? many are saying that technology is pushing forward fast but the Mc3+ usb has been out for nearly 13 years, that very good for any product to still be viable over such a long period of time.

I will check out other DDC reclockers etc before deciding.

Yes ! I thought the same thing , how could such old technology be so good . But I see many professional studios still use it , so i tried it and was blown away . Good observation.

Thanks for your reply, I will proceed hopefully by the end of the year with a good ddc, I have a spare BNC on my AfterDark clock crying out for something special to be connected…
