Feature Request for File Manager

Hi guys,

First, I am loving the new File Manager feature, it has made backups far easier.

I would like to submit a feature request to make it better if possible.

Could a schedule feature be created that would allow the internal hdd to be backed up to an external and/or network drive at regular intervals?

Ideally, the HiFi Rose would backup the internal drive any time it was idle at a set frequency (4hr? 12hr? Weekly?), but a time set backup would be a great addition to start with?

Still on the topic of backups, the ability to synchronise content between HiFi Rose devices which are on the same network would also be great, so any content added to say my RS250 would be replicated to my RS520. This would replace the need for an external drive backup for me, but not be a feature for everyone else.

Scheduled backups are only possible when you have a scheduler running at any time. to run the created tasks.

ok, you could create a task like “check for new music on the rosedisk” to avoid complete db scans only for new added content on the rose disk but such functionality only can run in a standby mode where the device can automaticly wake up to run the tasks…

theres a lot of stuff to handle all such automatism things

Yes, this could be a lot of work to implement, but its only a feature request.

The product owner/dev team may already have something like this in active development, or on a backlog, or they may look at parts of the request and decide its worth adding to the backlog, or they may just decide that this is not a direction they wish to go with the product, which is also a valid response too really :slight_smile:

But this this not mean we should not put in feature requests in to the team as it may help guide the future feature releases of the product, we are lucky that they do like to listen to the user communities input (wish more companies did), we just need to be realistic about the responses and that sometimes we will get a flat “No”

I’m a customer with a while & I am relatively happy with the support I have had so far, I bought the product with the faith they would develop over time.

Even gone as far as putting in an RS520 recently to match the RS250

Currently, we are focusing our resources not only on copying but also implementing delete and edit functions. However, if the function you’ve mentioned can be added, it would be really nice.
We will review if it can be added to our update plans.

About your second suggestion, replicated to other ROSE streamer in same network, it’s also about the local files in SSD? Because things like playlists and streaming services are available in another ROSE streamer if you’re using same ROSE account?
