Feedback after a week of RS150b usage

Hi there,

Now that I’ve been using my Rose RS150b for a week, I decided to give some feedback of my thoughts. Also, this thread contains some feedback and suggestions for Rose.

Good stuff:

  • Stunning audio quality. I’ve compared it with the built-in DAC in the Hegel H390. The audio that the RS150 provides is more clear, more vivid and the sound stage is open and wide.
  • Great design. The screen is lovely with an overall good response.
  • The hardware seems great built. E.g. the linear power supply and the ESS SABRE ES9038PRO DAC chip.
  • Lots of input and output connections.
  • The ability to use the RS150b as a preamp.
  • The ability to display movies and music videos on an external screen (up to 4k / 60 hz).
  • The unit is Roon Ready and it works great.

Not so good stuff (room for improvement):

  • The Rose CONNECT app for iOS is lacking a lot, it could use some improvement. I’m using the unit with Tidal and I can’t see my Tidal playlists or songs, despite it’s available on the unit itself. Only the last played ones in the app.
  • The Rose CONNECT app for IOS description in the Apple app store is in Korean (please see attached screenshot).
  • The version history in the RD150b is in Korean (please see attached screenshot).
  • The unit seems unstable sometimes. E.g. I could not use RoseTube two days ago. The app didn’t respond to user input (touch / search) however everything else was working (e.g. Tidal) on the unit. Yesterday it worked fine.
  • There are typos and spelling errors, especially in settings. Examples: “Lastest version”. SystemInfo is in two words, same for SystemSetting. And “setting” is plural, e.g. “System settings”.
  • The unit is loaded with Korean playlists and other things. How to delete that?
  • The unit supports Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay but not Tidal Connect. It’s a shame cause the audio quality of Tidal Connect is superior to the other mentioned audio transports.

Thank you Rose for a wonderful product. I’m looking forward to improvements. Today I’ve just downloaded the latest software upgrade for the unit. The suggestions / errors mentioned here doesn’t seem to be fixed however.

Hello,

  1. iOS RoseConnect has its shortcomings. We will continue to update it so that it can be used stably.
If you use version 4.02.06 released today, you can use my music items(Playlist By TIDAL) in the Tidal menu normally.

  2. We will improve it to support multiple languages.

  3. For products being used outside of Korea, notices are displayed in English, but there seems to be an error. I will check and correct it.
If you tell us your RoseID, we’ll check it out.

  4. I’ll fix it.

  5. Currently, the home menu shows playlists created by users from various countries in their own language.
In this regard, we are thinking about how to improve it.

Even if users do not use Tidal or Qobuz, we are also considering the issue of exposure of related playlists.

  1. There are plans to support Tidal Connect. I think we can apply next year.

Thanks.

Hi Kevin,

Thank you kindly for your prompt feedback. It sounds great that you will improve the things mentioned!

I’ve sent you a PM with my Rose ID.

Thanks again and have a nice day!

Kind regards,
Lars

Hi Lars,

When I checked the ROSE ID that you sent me,I found that it was incorrectly registered as a device being used in Korea.
We have changed the country of use to Norway, so from the next notice, it will be sent in English.

However, please understand that the playlist displayed on the home menu can be displayed in various languages regardless of the country of use.

Best regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin

Thank you for investigating this.

How was the country set to Korea? I can’t seem to find out how to change the country to Denmark. It’s not in the settings of the unit. Where do I do that?

I just started the unit to see if any changes have occurred but the software updates are still in Korean.

I’ve also tried to perform a factory reset but no changes. I couldn’t set the country in the startup wizard.

Thanks again.

Kind regards
Lars

Hi Lars,

The country information referenced when sending notifications is managed differently from the country set by the user.
In the future, we plan to improve the service so that notifications can be sent in the language of the user’s choice.

Notification messages that have already been sent are not changed.
The notice in English has been sent again, so please check it,

Best regards,
Kevin
