For the RS130 do you know if you can connect a DAC to the fiber / usb hub (connected to the USB 3.0 fiber port of the 130) and if so I wonder if this would be better or the same as i2s since the hub will be using fiber as the source (which is very clean) and converting it to USB? Or is the USB audio out of the 130 the only way to connect an external DAC if you want to use USB.
im no expert but if you are using usb fiber out then you would need to convert back to non-fiber to plug into most usb dac inputs.
my impression is that the fiber usb is not an output but instead an input for a drive.
hopefully someone with more experience can provide a more informed answer.
i’m using coax out on mine.
I have the fiber USB hub and use it with my DAC and it’s a big improvement. Can only recommend this.
Yes you can via the RSA720 hub. This is connected via the USB fibre output on the RS130 then converts it to USB data into DACs. On the hub, you will have to use the USB 2.0 output to DAC. The 3.0 is only meant for storages and such.
Though be aware, there are some compatibility issues with certain DACs from the hub as I’m currently experiencing. Apparently a firmware update might correct it though that is to be seen.
Please request the RSA720 update file via the email below.
Then I will deliver the update file to your email.
