I used the firmware that was posted on the hifirose.com website, then quickly removed because it was defective.
Version 1.24 is available for download on the Korean Hifi Rose website. Is this firmware stable and why is this version not available on the international website?
Thank you for the information, I will test it, anyway I can roll back if it doesn’t work…
I will give my impressions a little later today.
@musiq
So! This firmware 1.24 seems to do the job well.
In addition, since the rollback from 1.23 to 1.15, the filters no longer seemed really different from each other, now I find more marked differences.
So I would say that you can do the update.
Hi everyone,
Please help !! I have recently added the RS 130 and RD 160 to my system and am very pleased with both. The only thing I’m not sure about is the latest firmware update for the 160. The unit came with version 1.20 installed which seems fine.
What are the advantages of installing version 1.24 ?
Honestly! No interest, especially do nothing!!!
I had the misfortune to go from 1.17 to 1.23 (which was buggy), I went back with relief to 1.15 since it was the only firmware available. I tried again the 1.24, it did not bring anything significant and I think of going back again to 1.15.
So my advice if it is worth anything: DO NOTHING AT ALL
Thank you Patrice
I’m actually not going to do anything: current version 1.17
Many thanks for your advice Patrice, that’s exactly what I was thinking of doing .
Same here, apart from the fact that it fixes the left-right inversion bug in DSD and there’s no more crackling, it sounds just as bad as firmware v.1.23
Luckily I’ve still got my Terminator…
@musiq
So, I wouldn’t say it’s the same as 1.23, it’s still better from a sound point of view, it’s less tense to listen to, but still tiring, too much contrast (more bass that was missing in 1.23 and more treble, but the mids are set back), huge soundstage (probably because of the treble) and the filters worked well
Going back to 1.15, everything is more relaxed.
I did a double reset (reset, unplug the RD160, plug it back in and reset again), I like what I hear again.
yes, and there’s still the bug that sets the RD160 to USB instead of USB fiber on the RS130 every time I turn it on.
You can get some respite by selecting USB Fiber - RD160 from the RS130 screen and not through the app. It usually lasts a few days, or even a week…
Wow, I did not know that your guys still have the issue with USB SFP. My RD160 with V1.17 never has this issue. It is always connected to USB SFP automatically. If I turn off RD160, RS130 will provide message indicating no DAC is connected. Once I turn on RD160, RS130 will always connect to USM SFP.
@Yu3319
It’s not that the connection is lost, it’s that the RS130 considers the RD160 as a USB device and not a USB SFP, even though physically it goes through the SFP. This results in a different SQ (less dynamics, more reduced soundstage). You should check from time to time what is the real type of connection between the two. There is no error message, it’s just not the optimal mode.
Yes, I noticed that your guys had the issue. Therefore, I checked my connection from BOTH the App and on the screen, from time to time. It is always connected to USB SFP. Never switched to USB.
Looking for a little help on the update to 1.24. My unit came with 1.20 installed and I tried today to install 1.24. I’m Mac only in the house and I’m not sure the file I’m downloading and putting on a memory stick is correct. One way I do it, the Mac automatically unzips the file. If I try to download the linked file I get one with a name 67c386702b073.zip Is this the correct file? I insert the stick and nothing happens. This is with the unit on. Anyone want to double check if I’m doing this correctly and if the problem is with how my Mac downloads a file can someone hook me up with one that works? Thanks.
Bouncing this back up if anyone can help
