@ROSEHAN @ROSELOA
This morning, I saw a post about the 1.23 update for the RD160.
I went to the hifirose.com website to get it and I did the update.
Damn!!! where did the bass go???
The update went well, but the sound is really weird, I have very sibilant highs and low-mids in the extreme bass, I have a loss of several db, it is simply unlistenable!
But how is this possible?
Since then the firmware has disappeared from the hifirose website and the post on this forum too…
How to go back to version 1.15? Help!!!
@PatriceP
hello, I’m not very satisfied either, but I don’t know yet if it’s because of the burn-in of the Amphenol cable
If you send me your email on the messaging, I can send you the firmware 1.15 that I kept as a precaution
P.S. : je parle aussi
I will refrain from any update
On the other hand, the filters on this damn version 1.23 have almost no differences between them anymore…
The only thing that has positively changed is the depth of the soundstage, but where are the low-mids and bass???
@musiq
I also have the 1.15 file, I don’t know if it is possible to roll back the firmware, but I previously had version 1.17, not 1.15…
And my Amphenol cable has nothing to do with it, it is already burnt.
It starts well with the Rd 160, seriously, Hifi Rose really has a problem of competence with software. How can we provide software that degrades the sound result, you test your devices after an update? It is mind-blowing incompetence and especially professionalism.
As on the RS130 where supposedly the connection problems to USB DACs have been solved and improved, it’s still complicated. Not to mention the delay settings on the digital inputs which still don’t work.
Seriously, I’m fed up with this team, I’ve been patient because I love these devices, but every time they release an update, it’s a disaster…
I’m seriously considering selling RS130 and RD160 to a poor unfortunate who will buy that and move on to a more competent brand that won’t show such amateurism as we’ve seen for too long here.
Well, I managed to roll back to version 1.15.
The sound is back as it was before this crappy update.
I think there is a problem with the internal clock management with 1.23. Indeed, on fairly quiet track of music, I could hear micro crackles (like sync errors or something like that…)
I am relieved to have been able to roll back.
Honestly Hifi Rose Team, you are discouraging, it is time to question yourselves and make drastic decisions and fire all the incompetents, your survival depends on it!!!
I also went back to version 1.15.
I also had these micro crackles with 1.23… Before I was in 1.17 and I had not detected any problems.
If the Rose staff could make version 1.17 available to us that would be cool
It’s true that the Rose team is a little rock ‘n’ roll!
@musiq
oddly enough, I wonder if I don’t prefer version 1.15…
I find the sound fuller, the mids are incredibly good… I would like your opinion, because coming from 1.23, the jump is huge and maybe I’m getting the wrong impression…
@PatriceP
hi, hi, hi, I ask myself the same question…
It is true that coming back from version 1.23, it is very good… I don’t remember 1.17 very well, but it seems to me that it was a little more relaxed…
Hello,
The distribution of version 1.23 has been temporarily halted due to an issue discovered in the “to DSD” mode.
Regarding the sound, no changes have been made.
However, if you wish to revert to version 1.15, please visit here.
@ROSELOA
Thank you for taking the time to answer.
I can assure you that the problem is not only in DSD, but also in PCM.
As indicated in the post, what I noticed with version 1.23 (listening in PCM only), is the highs are sibilant, lack of low-mids and bass, micro crackles during listening.
I would appreciate it if you could send me version 1.17 again, since my RD160 came with this version.
Hello,
There is no difference in user features or sound quality between versions 1.15 and 1.17.
Updating to version 1.15 will provide exactly the same experience.
I also have versions 1.21 and 1.22.
Basically Rose is trying to fix the issue with the 1.15 version where the channels are reversed when playing DSD.
Version 1.21 works fine when playing the original DSD file, but the channels are still opposite when SRC is turned on.
I emailed them and they sent me version 1.22, but it was back to square one, with the channels being reversed when playing DSD files, regardless of whether SRC was enabled or not.
1.23 actually fixes this annoying problem.
As for the change in sound quality, I noticed that after the update, the ASIO driver sometimes went into safe mode, which made the sound quality very poor. After turning it off, I did not notice any difference in sound compared to version 1.15.
@ROSELOA @musiq
So, today I received my external clock and I connected it to the RD160 and RS130, the improvement is there and it must be said that hour after hour it is better and better (probably the burning).
I told myself that I would test the firmware 1.23 again and what I assumed in my previous posts was confirmed, namely a problem with the management of the internal clock with version 1.23. When I switch to the 50 ohm external clock, the sound is great, when I switch back to the internal clock, I lose the bass and low-mids, the treble is sibilant and I have micro-crackling.
Houston, we have a problem…
What kind of clock are you running
May I know the content information you tested?
What’s the brand and model of your external clock?
I use a Cybershaft OP19A-D
