Firmware update for RD 160

I have had my RD 160 for a little more thatn a year now. There have been two firmware updates since then. one laste december and now one i the beginning of this month. Both have the recommendation to update if you have FW version 1.15 or earlier. I have a later version and should hence not update.

When will a major update focusing on improved sound be released?

Both when I had a PS Audio DAC and when I had the HifiRose RS150B FW updates improving the sound were published. Nothing of the sort when it comes to RD160. Why is this?

Kind regards

Reinhold

Thank you for your question.

The recent firmware updates for the RD160 were maintenance-focused and only required for units running FW 1.15 or earlier. Since your device already has a later version, no update is necessary at this time.

Regarding a major sound-focused update:
The RD160 is already operating at its intended sound performance level, and unlike DACs or streamers that rely heavily on DSP changes, the RD160 does not require frequent sound-tuning firmware revisions. While we continue to evaluate potential improvements, there is currently no scheduled major update specifically for sound changes.

If new enhancements become available in the future, we will announce them through official firmware notes.

Thank you for your understanding.

No need for an update. Curious, what “sound” upgrade are you looking for or expect?
