Flickering display rs130

@ROSEHAN
Hi, we had contact about my flickering display which only happens very few times.
You told me it was the display but I’m not sure about this because when I turn off the unit and power on again after half a hour it is normal again.
So in my opinion the screen itself is fine
Can the cause of this flickering be in the mainboard or power supply?
I ask because I will take back my unit to the distributor but they told me the cause of this issue might be hard to find because it only happens few times
It can play for weeks without any issue and then suddenly the flickering is there
What are your thoughts about this and what do they need to exchange inside the rs130 in your opinion?
I did email a video with the issue to your email address

@Bitspeed

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
After checking the video and photos you sent, it appears that the LCD is damaged.
Contact the dealer in the country where you purchased the RS150b and request an exchange or LCD replacement.

If the display is damaged, how is it possible I can use it for weeks without any problem and then suddenly it starts to flicker again.
You’re sure it is in the display?

@Bitspeed

Yes, the issue is an LCD problem.

Hello Rosehan,

My RS130’s screen also has experienced flickering issues for some time already. After I turn off the unit, and switch back on again, the display flickering disappears for a while, then, after 30 minutes to one hour, the screen flickering again.

Should I get repair or exchange?

Thanks,
Ming

Can you post a short movie so I an see the flickering is the same as the one I experienced?

@Yu3319

Yes, it appears that the issue will go away if you replace the LCD.

Today I sent my RS130 to my dealer for screen replacement.
I’ll keep you posted if the issue is solved as soon it’s back again

Do use my rs130 now few months after the screen replacement and no flickering issue any more
I’m a happy guy now :slight_smile:

@Bitspeed

I’m glad the issue has been resolved.

After 3 weeks guarantee is left, my display begins flickering, too.
Factory reset brings no solution.

@Rosehan : Any chance to get goodwill by replacing display unit in germany over distributor ?
Rose ID 0D2FB9, Serial No. EBK307CB000198, Date of purchase 22.02.2024

I will give the unit to my seller, tomorrow.

Thanks for any help.

Does it flicker all the time? Even after it has been without power for a while?
If not, then use a power regulator. Problem fixed

Here’s what the screen flicker looked like on my RS130 when it failed (photo attached).

I can’t speak to overall failure rates, but based on what I’ve seen discussed by other owners, I’m personally concerned this may not be a rare one-off. I asked HiFi Rose for additional clarity around how common this issue is and what owners should expect, but they declined to provide further detail beyond general guidance and distributor-based support.

So at this point, all I can suggest is that RS130 owners document any symptoms early, keep good records, and be prepared to work through their distributor for service if it happens.

Good luck, everyone.

First issue was late in last year, it was a short episode flickering after 6-7hrs of playing.
Standby for 1hr solved it, so far.

Yesterday again, after long play, but i can‘t resolve it, even after facory reset.
Brighten to full for a short time, stabilized display, but it comes back after 2-3min.
So i turned off only the display, and check periodically, but flickering remain.
Unit still in use for 1hr:
Then i renamed the unit and made a further reboot.
After that display stable for the rest of the day. Crazy.

I will ask my seller, what best practise. Try to get goodwill from Audionext in Germany.

I use a Audioquest Niagara 1200 as clean power.

@Christian

If this issue continues to occur, it appears that you will need to contact the distributor in the country where you purchased the RS130 and have it serviced.

Since the date of purchase is February 22, 2024, if more than two years have passed, a repair cost may apply.

@ROSEHAN — If HiFi Rose is aware of a recurring defect in RS130 units and that defect is tied to specific components used in production, then it’s not reasonable for customers to bear out-of-warranty repair costs for that same defect.

That’s the core point behind my prior posts: owners need a clear, written policy for known defects. At a minimum, HiFi Rose should commit that repairs related to any confirmed/known RS130 component defect will be covered, even if the standard warranty period has expired. If HiFi Rose disagrees, then please state that plainly and explain the basis for declining coverage.

Owners should not be left to absorb the cost of correcting a defect that was known—or should reasonably have been known—by the manufacturer.

@duffer5

This is our policy, and similar issues can also occur in products from other manufacturers that use LCD components.

Therefore, this matter is not considered a component defect.

Please contact the distributor in the country where you purchased your product for assistance with this issue.

If there is a specific problem with your unit, please let us know.

@ROSEHAN — with respect, that response is not adequate.

Saying “other manufacturers also use LCDs” doesn’t address the issue being discussed here. The question isn’t whether LCDs can fail in general — it’s whether the RS130 is experiencing a recurring LCD flicker/vibration failure mode and what HiFi Rose will do to protect owners when it occurs.

If HiFi Rose’s position is that this is not a component defect, then please define what you do consider a defect and answer the practical questions owners care about:
1. Is LCD flicker/vibration an issue HiFi Rose tracks as a known service pattern for RS130? Yes or no.
2. What is the standard remedy when it occurs (LCD replacement, mainboard, cable, etc.) and is the repair considered a warranty-covered defect while in warranty?
3. If the same failure occurs outside the warranty period, what is HiFi Rose’s policy — is there any goodwill coverage or standardized accommodation, or is the owner always responsible?
4. Have any production/service part changes been implemented to reduce recurrence?

“Contact your distributor” is fine as a repair routing step, but it is not an answer to the broader reliability and owner-protection questions. Please respond with clear, written guidance so owners can make informed decisions.

I complete follow @duffer5 here, very well pointed out.

Just about less than 3 weeks after warranty time this LCD flicker occurs over hours, even after factory reset and complete power down disconnecting power cable.

Hifi Rose gave direct instructions to other clients in this post to clearly change LCD display, in same case.

What is to expect in the near and later future with that display due to my serial no. ?
Today i have to bring it up to my seller and he try to get goodwill from german distributor, nobody knows if that will succeed.

Just this nice and huge display is that one, which declassified fellow competitors, so please,
Hifi Rose stand behind your product in this price range, even with goodwill when warranty time is only some days gone.

Thank you very very much.

I would appreciate it if you could also let me know the response you receive after requesting goodwill support from the German distributor.
