Going from NAD M10 to Rose 150 or 250

Hi just seeing if anyone has come from using the NAD M 10 with drict live room correction to a new Rose HI FI 150 or the 250 ?
have you seen any improvement in sound using the rose 250 or 150 or did you like the NAD better ?

Owned the NAD M10 for a while and also the Arcam SA30 - both with DIRAC live. Personally I found it overly complicated and not worth the effort. After investing several hours ‘setting up the room’ ended up preferring it switched off on both the above amps. Much prefer the 150b

I also owned the NAD M10 for about 8 months.

I think the main things that will influence your sound are (in descending order of importance): 1/ your room, 2/ your speakers, 3/ your amp (hence which amp you plan to use if you’re replacing the NAD M10 is the most important thing, assuming you’re keeping the same speakers and the same room), 4/ your source (streaming, CD player, local files…) quality and the DAC which decodes them.

The RS250 is giving me the best sound I ever heard on my Buchardt A500s. I also had the NAD M10 hooked to Buchardt S400 mkII for a month and I definitely preferred the A500s. However, at the time I didn’t have the RS250, I had a Bluesound Node. The RS250 is giving me a far superior sound compared to the Bluesound node (which is normal considering the price difference).

Dirac room correction was never something I liked, it removed far too much from the sound when I was comparing with and without.

Based on those empiric comparisons, I would expect the Rose RS250/150 to give you a superior sound to the M10 but you need to get a good amplifier which matches well with your speakers.

The only way to know is to try of course, maybe you can find someone who can provide you a loaner…

Hope this helps,
Hervé

I think you can’t compare a streaming pre with a full featured amp with Dirac included.
The RS201E will be a better candidate for this…

But: I’m using for multichannel also a Dirac system from Emotiva and (I’ve a really good hearing room) hear not so much differences with Dirac on/off.

Also there seems (I’m only using a RS250) a bigger difference between the RS150 and RS250.
The DAC implementation in the RS250 isn’t really good for me (all my other streamers like Matrix Audio i2/mini 3, Lumin T2, Naim Unity Atom HE, exaSound e68 with mini pc or the Primare PRE35 Prisma are sounding much better through the analogue out) and so I’m using an external DAC (via USB).

But if you want and need a big (and very good) display, then go for the Rose RS150.

first I thought room correction is great. Now, I’m not so sure.

I also have the M10 V2, super happy with its sound and RS250A seems to use the same DAC chip so it should be comparable, minus Dirac Live
