Have I misunderstood?

Express yourself correctly and reread yourself. You wrote that you connected it to a Mac mini!! So I answered that it worked on the Rs130 directly!!

Relax!!

If you don’t mind my asking, why do you need the RSA720 if the Super Drive works when connected directly to the RS130? Is it for the SFP optical connection? If you are using the fiber connection it is possible that the Super Drive won’t be compatible with the RSA720, see page 9 of the manual.

You don’t understand anything and you’re tiresomely insistent! I checked the SuperDrive with a Mac mini and that’s it. Maybe the French translation is playing tricks on you because you don’t understand anything! Please stop replying to topics you don’t understand.

It doesn’t bother me at all, that’s just the main purpose of the forum, to solve some technical problems. Unfortunately, some people like Gillesbonatti (Boris II) reply to all topics even if they have no idea.
For two reasons: optical isolation and positioning at a distance from the RS130 (4-5m).
I read the manual and also the posts of other RSA720 users who connected the SuperDrive to it.
The RSA720 is a USB hub and according to the manual, several types of equipment can be connected.

I had read somewhere that the SuperDrive is a USB 2.0 device. On page 9 of the manual it says that when using in SFP mode to use only USB 3.0 devices. It is just a thought, I don’t have a 720. The only way I can think to troubleshoot this is to connect the 720 to the 130 by the USB cable rather than fiber and see if it recognizes the SuperDrive.

This is what I proposed as a solution a little higher but obviously this gentleman is susceptible!!!

Regrettable this posture

I think you don’t really understand anything from the manual or you are using a bad translator! It is written very clearly in the manual:

If you don’t have RSA720 and don’t know what it is (just like gillesbonatti boris II) why are you wasting my time???

P.S.

  1. The USB ports on the RS130, where the Apple SuperDrive works, are 3.0:
    back
  2. My DAC is connected to the RSA720 via USB 2.0 and the RSA720 is connected via fiber optic to the RS130 and it works great.

I said Page 9 twice. I also said that I did not know for sure this was the issue, but that it was worth a try. Anyway, this is what it says on Page 9:

3-1. How to Connect a USB 3.0 Fiber Optical Cable

As shown in the figure below, connect a fiber optical cable to the SFP connector of the RSA720

and connect the other side of the cable to a device that supports SFP optical terminals such as an RS130.

Caution: When using in SFP mode, the USB 3.0 port on the main body does not support USB 2.0 devices, so make sure to use only USB 3.0 devices.

I suspected that I might get a rude response from you along these lines. When I saw your first response to Gillesbonatti I thought you might have anger issues and are likely socially maladjusted. But against my better judgement I thought, whatever, nothing ventured nothing gained. My initial instincts were confirmed.

You should just PM Rosehan and give him a few days to give you a non-answer to your query. In the meantime hook up your SuperDrive directly to your 130, I doubt you will hear any difference in sound quality. After that go shopping for another transport, Rose sells one. When that one doesn’t work either you can come back here and complain some more.

BTW, I happen to think Gillesbonatti and Boris are both fine, upstanding gentlemen. You have a ways to go to get into their league.

@Eleven

Thank you very much

Has anyone here, succeeded, in getting sound from a windows PC (Win 11 pro), thru to the RS130, via USB?

If you have, I’m really interested in hearing how you managed…?!
I’ve tried “everything”, I can come up with… Not a single tone comes thru…🥹

Your answer is wonderful and you show a brilliant intelligence, just like gillesbonatti and boris.
Thank you for existing and enlightening us mere mortals. I’m sure you’ll never have a headache!
I can only give you a big ignore.

Please confirm, has anyone managed to get sound from a PC to the RS130?
Please note, I’m not talking about directly from Rose connect, or Roon… I mean getting sound from MS Windows itself, or via any video Player app.
Foobar saw the RS130, and I could play music from there, BUT… I want to watch movies, and have the sound sent to my Rose…

Brummle, I think you should start a new thread on your topic / question. You are likely to get more responses, and I would like to know the answer as well. I had no luck connecting my MacBook Pro directly to the RS130.
