Have I misunderstood?

I thought it was possible to connect a CD-transport to the RS130 via USB, (and transport the signal further to my DAC, via i2s) ?
I’ve tried both USB inputs, and gone through all settings, but I’m not able to get any signal through to my DAC…
I know that the CD transport is working, and transferring signal through the USB…;

I haven’t succeeded in getting any signal from my PC either, via USB…
The RS130 do “see” my PC, but that is all…

Could I’ve received a faulty unit…?

@Brummle

Please note that the RS130 is a network transport device. This means it is designed to transmit digital audio signals from network and local storage sources to an external DAC, but it does not function as a USB DAC or USB host for external transports such as a CD transport or PC.

The USB ports on the RS130 are intended for external storage devices (such as USB drives or SSDs) to play files, not for receiving digital audio streams from a CD transport or PC.

Therefore, it is not possible to connect a CD transport or PC via USB and forward the signal through i2s or another digital output to your DAC.

@ROSEHAN
So if I have the RS130, RD160, RA180, how can I listen to CD’s using the Rose RSA 780E CD Transport?

On the RS130 I connected an Apple super drive drive to USB and I can totally read the CDs

You have to go to the store to activate the Cd function

Ok so it does work. Plug it in to the back of RS130 and plays no problem. No album art though…

For my part, I have the album covers

I think that ROSEHAN may have mIs-understood this question?

I have my Melco D100 CD transport connected to a USB socket on the rear of my RS130 and it works perfectly.
Insert a disc and press the ‘play CD’ icon on the main front panel of the RS130. A list of all the tracks on the disc, plus the metadata of the CD cover appear.
You then have the option of selecting the tracks to play from the screen listing, or play them from the list that is now showing within the Rose Connect app on my iPad.
You can easily select tracks, pause, stop or jump tracks just like using a full CD player remote control.
The sound is sent to my Dac via. a hdmi I2S cable and then on to my amp.

I agree. In its own marketing materials Rose says its RSA780 CD drive is made for

  • playback and ripping with HiFi Rose RS150B, RS250A, RS201E, RS520, and RS130 network music players
  • Connects to HiFi Rose players via included USB Type-A to Type-B cable
  • Rips CDs to FLAC, FLAC (compressed) or WAV files

I cannot find any “CD” stuff on Rose-store though? What is it called exactly?

It’s not an external app, but included in the core.

Ahh, it’s only possible to choose directly on the Rose screen… not via the app :ok_hand:
But still, it’s not “seeing” my Shanling ET3 :disappointed_relieved:

@Brummle
There is also a CD app in the RoseConnect app. You can find it at the bottom of the screen labeled “CD.”

@Khaodow
For CDs that are not registered in our server, the album art will not be displayed, as you mentioned.
We will continue working to add as many CDs as possible to our server in the future.

Yeah I saw :ok_hand: But apparently, there is no compatibility with my Shanling ET3, unfortunately :disappointed_relieved:
Not via USB…
Need to use AES, wich I’m no fan of

Thanks for the confirmation. However…are you serious that Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon” is not in your database? It’s in the top 5 best selling albums of all time! Over 45 million copies sold! Maybe you only have KPop? :slight_smile:

I can live without the Album art, still loving my Rose products.
