HDMI arc connection TV

Hi,

I have my TV connected to the HDMI arc input on the Rose 150B, and the Rose is connected to my amplifier.
Unfortunately when I use the TV the sound disappears suddenly and I have to restart the Rose or TV to get the sound back. This has been ongoing from when i purchased the Rose last year.
Sometimes, the sound suddenly disappears and I note that the volume on the Rose is at level 0, but most of the cases the volume is on, but no sound!!

Is there anyway that this can be solved?

Thanks,

@Magnus

I’ve read your article.
I have a few questions.

  1. Connect your TV to the RS150b HDMI ARC port. If so, I think you connected because you wanted to hear the sound played on the TV through RS150b. Is that right?

  2. If you want to listen to the sound played on the TV through RS150b and connect to the HDMI ARC port, but no sound comes out, check if HDMI is enabled in the Output side of the In/Out settings of RS150b. Is it activated, but no sound?

Please check the question above.

Thank you

Hi,

The answer is Yes in both 1 and 2.

In most cases it works, but suddenly the sound disappears without any reason.

In some cases the sound level suddenly drops from 80 to 0, without me doing anything.

It might that the sound format changes that causes the issue!!!

Thanks,

Magnus

@Magnus

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Please answer a few questions.

  1. If the volume suddenly goes from 80 to 0, is the volume adjustable?
  2. Please tell us the model name of your TV.
  3. When the sound drops, is there a specific channel or program?

Thank you

Please find the reply to the questions:

  1. In some cases when the sound disappears, the volume level has been reduced to 0, but I can adjust it again and the sound appears. In the other instance when the sound disappears, the sound volume has not changed and stays att level 80, in this case I will restart the TV and Rose. But in both cases I have not adjusted or changed any sound level.

  2. LG OLED55B6V-Z, purchased in 2016

  3. I have not noted any specific channel or program that causes the sound to disappear.

Thanks again,

Magnus

Magnus

Last question.
Please let me know how long after the symptom starts playing the TV.

Thank you

Unfortunately, the symptoms occur randomly, that is the issue.

Thanks,

Magnus

@Magnus

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
We tried the same method all day yesterday and didn’t get the same symptoms as you.

Please answer the questions below.

  1. Which output of RS150b do you use?
  2. Are you using the software volume control function on your RS150b?

Thank you

Thanks,

  1. The output connection on the RS150b is Balanced cable to an MBL N51 integrated amplifier. The input is with a HDMI cable to the HDMI arc connection on the 150.

  2. I fix the volume on the 150 at a level of 80; when using the TV sound I will adjust the sound with the TV remote control. When listening to music from the 150 I will adjust the sound through the amplifier remote. I can use both of the volume controls on the Rose APP, as well as on the 150.

I hope this clarifies the questions.

Many thanks again,

Magnus

@Magnus

We’ll do more similar tests on your environment over the weekend.

Please answer the two questions below.

  1. Does the same symptom occur when playing general music (Rosetube, Tidal, Qobuz) that is not connected via HDMI ARC?
  2. Please check if the problem occurs when the TV and RS150b are connected via Optical rather than HDMI ARC.

Have a great weekend.

Hi,

Answers to your questions:

  1. No, it does not occur when I general music, only when connected with HDMI.
  2. I will try this when I am back home, next weekend.

However, my main concern is twofold:

  1. When the sound from the TV through HDMI ARC, suddenly disappears, although the sound level on the 150 and the ROSE APP has not changed. Normally I fix the should level at 80 on the ROSE, and make adjustment to the sound on the TV remote. In this case I will restart the ROSE and TV to get the sound back…

  2. Sometimes, similar situation to the above, the sound disappears, but the sound volume in this situation on the 150 and ROSE APP has suddenly dropped to level 0, then I just adjust the volume, to level 80 on the 150 or the ROSE APP and the sound will appear.

Many thanks for your kind assistance,

Magnus

I have now connected the TV and RS150b via Optical rather than HDMI ARC, so far it works better and the sound does not disappear. I will continue to use this connection as I am only transferring the sound from the TV.

Thanks for your assistance,

Magnus
