Here's my comments on the RA180

Yes, I agree with you that both RA180 and RS150 would be better if both come with more flexibility.

Well said Tom appreciate how you addressed and handled the situation. These forums are meant for people find both help and advice. I am more than happy with my RS250. I’ve paired with most of my gear and even used it as a preamp from time to time. Something interesting we found out is he doesn’t even own one or ever used one. Based his very abrasive opinion from reading reviews. I’m honestly not sure how you can have such an option on something you never used or heard. Thank you for all the advice and keep it coming.

Should be a good couple of weeks. I now have the 150B/180 and the RS520. We’ll see if the separates can justify their existence.

Marty

I hope (guess) the separates will win.
Looking forward to hearing your result.
Tom

Hi Marty,
Love to hear the result! Especially for the comparison of 520 vs 150B used as source only! I ‘m not keen on balance configuration. I am guessing if I’d be the only one to get a 520 paired with my RA180 instead of the 150B previously!

Well said. I saw nothing in your post that looked like you were trying to fix problems with Rose gear. I think he’s a troll.

Surely not. Thanks Neil.

You sound like an idiot. Your name says it all troll.

Hi Allen,

I may have try this out. Didn’t really think about using the 520 or the 150 with the 180 via RCA. Using Line 3 input will enable amp only (Direct) option.

First week hooked up the 150/180 (of course balanced). Bettered any of my previous Class D, GaN amps. I’m on the second week of listening to the 520. Not ready to say how it compares, but it’s the best all in one that I have had (M10, Evo 150, M33).

Marty

Obviously you are very please with the 520. Interesting !

I really can’t do a valid comparison. My old listening room is no longer available and we are about a year out on our new house build. I get a dedicated sound room and that is where the 150/180 should shine. 20 x 24 with pitched ceiling, sound absorption, etc…

Using the 150/180 and 520 in a TV room for now. I do have a swarm sub config and that enhances any type of front end I’m using.

With that said, the 150/180 is better than the stand alone 520. It will be more evident in our upcoming media room. I would be totally content with the 520 in the common TV room area.

Probably keeping both. Although, Rose is coming out with the RA280 that might be a better pairing with the 150…

Thanks for the note and your handling is logical.

RA280 is coming? Where did you get the news ?

Thanks very much Marty.

Thanks Marty !
Try 520 as source after running in if possible. Of course by RCA only.

@Allan

hooked it up last night…

will be listening later today…

@ROSEHAN

Can you provide your feedback on the preamp out from the 150 to the 180. I’m currently set at 3000mv and that seems pretty strong. Barely move the volume on the 180 to get to a pretty loud dB output.

What would be the best combo as far as output from the 150 and gain/volume adjustment on the 180.

Thx.

Marty

Hi Marty,
I am using 3000mv as well. Volume position from 8 o’clock to 12 o’clock (normal 10.30) in regular listening, depending on the type of music.
I set to use 2000mv (standard for RA180) before, the volume for listening was from 9 to 2 o’clock.
I choose 3000mv voltage before it sounds better than 2000mv to my ears.
Also note that my speaker is Elysian 4 floor standing. It probably needs more power.
If Rose could in future add a 2500mv output, it may give more flexibility.
Tom
