My HiFi Rose 201E doesn’t have the menu page with 5 lines of options under the In/Out Page when I click the gear to allow me to select “Software Volume Control”. The other HiFi Rose units have that option available to make it a fixed volume output via optical. Any idea why it is missing on the 201E? Is there a setting that prevents this from being available over optical?
The functions below are those that are available when you press the gear in the input/output settings. Please familiarize yourself with the functions below and use them.
“Software volume control”
Some USB DACs support UAC2 volume control, while others support HID volume control. In this case, when you adjust the volume on the Rose, the volume command is sent to the DAC to control the volume. If this feature is not supported, you can enable software volume control in the USB DAC settings in the I/O settings, and then adjust the volume via the Rose App.
Caution 1. It cannot be used in Native DSD or DSD over PCM mode. It is applied after changing to DSD to PCM(upto DSD128) mode.
Caution 2. For digital output, MQA Stream is supported only when the volume is MAX. If it is less than MAX, MQA Stream is not supported.
“Preout level settings”
The output value will be fixed according to the set value. When this setting is applied, you will not be able to adjust the volume on ROSE, so you need to adjust the volume on the amplifier. When setting the value, please check the “input sensitivity” of the amplifier you are connecting to and set it to a similar value. If the output is higher than the input sensitivity, clipping and distortion may occur.
