agree totallyā¦i have had mine 150 for over a year no and i have so much Iām not satisfied with but my english is sob bad i canāt write good enough about itā¦so i donāt.
hello,i had mine now for over a year and there are so much Iām not happy with, i hope that i had not bought it.but my english are not good so i have not told it yetā¦
I think it is now high time for ROSE to make officially commitments to the steps they are going to take to sort all the existing problems by reading all the comments here.
We get too much blah, blah, blah like wait for the next software update and so on. Otherwise the days of this company in HIFI are numbered.
At the moment the software is piecework without any real solutions on offer

Thereās some right cry-arseing beauts on this forum.
Iām forced to say that I really donāt care about your opinionā¦
RS250/150 main goals are 1: Streamer 2: DAC/ADC 3: for those who do not use a separate Preamp, a very basic Preamp. I bought it mainly for the ADC functionality to USB transfer towards the PS Audio Direct Stream DAC, and it works just fine.
All the rest is optional, as I recall from the vendor where I bought this machine. It is not a full NAS system, perfect VU-meter, Equalizer, ā¦
From what I read here itās clear that expectations for some are far higher than the product was designed for. If you want DB/NAS management then invest in ROON, Innuos, ⦠, or a NAS or a Mac Server as a core. Rose Hifi products are designed as an āENDPOINTā in the music system. NOT as a MUSIC management server.
You might have been fooled by your audio reseller. In order to avoid being fooled again next time, I advise to do your research (in what you really need) more thorougly before you buy audio next time, and be willing to invest the money accordingly to meet your primal needs.
@duffer5 and to whom who might have the same coping mechanisms on headwind reactions.
It is always OK to speak your mind, but if someone gives you a headwind, there is no need to start blaring and screaming to get your point across, ā¦
I remember your furious and even passive aggressive comments to @ROSEHAN regarding the VU meter functionality, they were anything but constructive. Just saying, ⦠, here I see the same dynamic which might scare other people to speak their mind in a safe way, ā¦
@HarleyQuinn +1
,VU meter is just a gimmick and using 150 as a NAS would be totally beyond its design point.
Pretty much agree (even if I canāt comprehend why one would bypass RS DAC and send signal to be mangled by PS Audio, but to each his own).
Nevertheless, Rose did include storage attachment and media management functionality to these products. Might as well have it working at least as good as what a $500 Bluesound Node can doā¦
Having some completely unrealistic expectations about functionality, level of handholding the product should provide, and pace of software development isnāt very constructive though.
In point one, I use RS mainly to convert from analog ( Moon Phono preamp Best Turntable Preamp | 310LP Phono Preamplifier | MOON - Simaudio) to digital, as de BHK direct stream doc has no analog inputs.
Sometimes I also use the RS for streaming ( as a streamer she comes in the neighbourhood of black SoTm Ultra Neo). the DAC in the RS is good, but the PS audio BHK Direct Stream is significantly better. so for streaming and conversion, I work with PS audio Direct stream DAC directly. RS is not in the picture in this scenario.
On point 2 : I agree with you , perhaps Hifi Rose should consider improvements up to level of blue sound , ā¦
I guess if you like the sound, itās fine, and thatās what really counts. As far as transparently reproducing the original signal goes, DirectStream is significantly worse than a USB dongle for a smartphone you could get for about 5 bucksā¦
But yes, Rose devices have all the hardware a features to beat just about every streamer in their price range, and even a significantly higher one. But software could be improved. Not that Bluesoundās software werenāt a dumpster fire all by itselfā¦
Maybe if you stop trolling you just might get something done.
So, I re-read my original posts and I am curious what has Hifi Rose done to improve the customer service experience considering you have added an additional product (rs130) which will bring additional burdens to the customer support team?
new owner here. its clear that HiFi Rose doesnt not have enough customer support. the products have too many features that either dont work or are very buggy. HiFi Rose needs to devote resources to making these products work as they are advertised.
Too many complex features, total lack of usability, no user support besides this community forum, no manuals, no youtube tutorials⦠surely Hifi Rose designs brilliant devices, but they need to change they mindset and focus in user experience. Anyway, I only use basic features and itās enough for me.
@duffer5 I canāt agree more with you. You have pointed out most but not yet all of the issues. HiFiRise has a very long list of problems to be fixed
Hi buddies, I bought my R150 two years ago. Recently I have been experiencing a very bad problem. The unit switched on and switch off by itself like there was a ghost inside. Then my mobile phone Rose Apps could not control the unit anymore, because it would not find the IP address of the unit. I can only start/switch on the unit by using a tooth-pick pressing the tiny hole of the RESET button at the back. Because the tiny hole of the RESET button is located at the back of the unit, it is a very different position to get access to. Painful and annoying. This tooth pick RESET has to be done every few days.
And further more, I experienced another bad problem ONCE, after I tooth pick RESET the unit, I played music and then all of a sudden, the unit turned the pre-amp volume all the way to maximum at +99, it blew my speaker cones, it was very painful! I am wondering how the stupid and dangerous the software is!
Two days ago, I sent an message to ROSELOA about these problem. I have not received any reply yet.
I contacted the local distributor. They asked me to send the unit back for an inspection and would replace any faulty parts. I am asking their quotes of replacement because the unit may be out of warranty. If it is too costly, I am seriously considering to junk it and buy something else.
I am totally disappointed by Hifi ROSE for the R150 quality.
Thatās awful. Weāre your speakers permanently damaged?
Ryan,
Iāve been an owner for about six months now. I have found that the hardware design and construction are excellent. However, in that time Iāve seen on this board a near unanimous opinion from users of exactly what you are articulating. The design, usability and operability of the software are poor. The decision tree is a Sudoku. There are hints but no clear direction (three dots?). The search function a user would start with is three levels deep. The SQL query imitations are arbitrary and unnecessary.
An easy suggestion would be to take a look at the organization of the better high end streamersā software. The solution is easy. All it takes is a decision and money. Hence your question. Is HiFi Rose a hobby brand or a serious business. It holds so much promise that it would be a shame to continue to hobble its success with janky software. I could even wait for it to evolve if I could see fundamental progress instead of trimming around the edges. Iād love to hear from Jong-Suh Kim or his representative what the philosophy and future direction of the company will be.
StandardModel
Iām one of those people who hopes that these products are not the ownerās hobby.
Theyāve solved a lot of problems along the way. Iām not demeaning their efforts.
Iāve consistently asked questions about their philosophy on user experience.
The reason for that question is because of the special segment of products they have created and will continue to create.
If itās a knob-type piece of hardware with a heritage and reputation, Iām not wasting my time writing about it, because Iām the one who chose the four-knob chunk, and itās impossible to change that physical dial to five or three.
They may be uncomfortable with my prediction, but Iām just deploring the hardware-centric thinking of the owners and organization, their kiosk expertise, and their history of acquiring small audio companies.
I donāt see this machine as a hardware product.
Their product is no different than the iPhone and Galaxy, only with a phone and camera.
If this company focuses solely on how it looks and sounds, it will eventually fade into obscurity with a half-assed product in a market it has worked hard to capture.
@StandardModel you are right, it takes determination and investment. Iām hoping to see a major overhaul of RoseOS soon, with user experience experts brought in from the outside - ad hoc usability improvements will only make RoseOS more complicated and tangled.
Iām sorry, but based on the kiosk type reply from the Rose Staff here over the past year, I doubt thatās possible.
