Hifi rose r150b and connecting to NAS

Hi guys,

I would like to know if any of you had present issue try to connect to a network share from synology nas. In the rose app i’m able to see on the network tab. After choosen the right share ask me for credential, i do enter id which is my logging name, and password. But always says “Network error”.

The share is a SMB 3.0 version and works perfectly in my network with my pc.

I think Rose is un fortunately limited to SMB 1.0. If you allow SMB1.0 to that share, it should work (works with my 250).

I will try. The problem is the NAS says if you change to 1.0, there is so much security exposure. I will let you know.

I don’t know about other devices, but the RS150B supports SMB v2. It’s documented on the site - see link below. Is the limitation with certain NAS device? I connect using my Apple MACs using SMB v2.

I knew they were working on getting off of SMB 1 but did not see it on any update. I will switch mine over asap. Thanks for the heads up!

@ROSELOA when was this upgraded?

Dan

@Manny Interesting, I would have thought it’d be a feature of the underlying Android platform, not a specific Rose product. If SMB2 is supposed to work for 150, maybe they can get it working for 150 et al as well.

I believe Synology has a bunch of SMB 2/3 advanvced specific settings, so you might want to play with those as well…

Hello @AZWink and @BorisM ,

I’m sorry but SMBv2 is not supported yet.
The specification on the website should be corrected. I apologize for confusing you.

I did set the setting in file services of the synology downgrade to smb1 and works.

Thanks for the info… So, from your comments and my testing it would seem that the RS150B cannot connect to a NAS using SMBv2, BUT a computer connecting to an internal SSD in the RS150B will use SMBv2.

In the attached JPG, I have connected from my MAC to the ROSEDISK (aka the internal SSD 1TB drive that have installed in my RS150B). The SMB_VERSION is SMB_2.002. That was determined by using the MAC command line (smbutil statshares -a).

So, it seems like you are half there. It’s strange that the RS150B can dish out content using SMB v2 but it won’t use that protocol for connecting to a NAS.

Same problem with my QNAP 672XT

Same error message with a Synology RS720+. I prefer to wait an upgrade and not use SMBv1 for security reason.
