Hifi Rose RA180 Amp with built-in TUBE Pre-amp Section

Hi I am currently using a RS150B with my Kinki Studio EX-M7 power amplifier (class AB), I am happy with the sound but I am interested the RA180 integrated as it has phono input.

My only reservation is the class D sound as it tends to have a thin midrange sound that lacks body and warmth in this frequency region. I really do think that your RA180 integrated would benefit tremendously with a (switchable) tube (valve) pre section to address this lack of body weight and warmth in the midrange. Although your amplifier has been positively reviewed, the issue of lack of warmth and body in the midrange has cropped up regularly.

If this function was added to your RA180 or another future amplifier by Hifi Rose I would be first in the que to purchase one.

Thanks
AB

For things like that you need to buy an AVM Ovation for about € 8000 for example….

I have the RA180 and have been a valve amp user and builder for quite a few years. Like you I was concerned about class D but I can honestly say I don’t hear any thinness or digitally tizziness. With the GaN fets, I think class D has finally come of age. The RA180 is a fine amp. If you miss the valve sound, you could always add a valve buffer but I don’t think you need to.
