HiFi Rose RA180 – crackling noise in right speaker when changing volume via remote

I would like to ask for your help regarding my HiFi Rose RA180.

I noticed a crackling noise from the right speaker when I change the volume with the remote control. This only happens when I adjust the volume by remote.

If I turn the volume control by hand on the amplifier itself, there is no crackling noise.

One more detail: after moving the volume up and down several times, the noise disappeared. At the moment, the unit is working again, but I am concerned that this may indicate a problem with the motorized volume control or another internal issue.

Summary of the issue:
• Crackling noise only from the right speaker
• Only when adjusting volume with the remote control
• No noise when turning the volume knob by hand
• After repeated up/down adjustment, the noise disappeared

Could you please let me know:
• whether this is a known issue
• what the possible cause might be
• whether you recommend service or further testing

Thank you in advance for your support.

I have similar issue. By slightly turning the volume knob on the device up or down manually, the crackling will go away.

But after a week’s usage or so, the issue will reappear. Have to turn the volume knob manually again to get rid of the issue.

Not serious but annoying.

I have a similar issue as well.
Crackling noise from the right speaker that goes away when I turn the volume min to max a few times.
It comes back rarely and it doesn’t matter if I use the remote or the volume knob.

Has anyone reported this to Rose Support? This can’t be normal. What do they say?

Hello,

Could you describe what kind of noise it is? If it’s not too much trouble, could you please record a video of the noise and send it to khj94@citech.kr?

We recommend sending the unit to your local dealer for an inspection. Since the RA180 is not software-driven, physically opening and inspecting the unit is the most reliable way to identify the cause.

It isn’t possible to make a video, because the noise only comes from the tweeter when playing music, so you won’t hear it in a video. It’s sounds like the potentiometer is dusty as I know this from very old amplifiers.

Based on the symptoms you described, it appears that replacing the OP amp module inside your RA180 should resolve the issue.

Please contact the distributor in the country where you purchased your RA180 and request service.
