Hifi Rose RS151 Streaming from Nas Drive Possible?

Hello everyone this is my 1st post
I bought the RS 151 Its on its way i have some questions

For storage like can I use my nas drive ? Like songs which are downloaded from Spotify or tidal ? If it’s possible to download ? In streamer ?

Can I play music stored in my Nas Drive in mp3 or flac format ?

Any other suggestions for new user I am going to pair it with MICHI X3 AMP with Dali Rubikore 8 Speakers

Since you’re using spotify connect, I don’t believe that you can download music and have it saved on the Rose. I believe it will be cached on the local device running the Spotify app.

Sounds like it should fit into your Amp and speakers.

What about tidal ? I have tidal also

I don’t use Tidal, but Rose has the Tidal App in their Rose Store.
So in theory it could be possible. I just don’t know.

The funny thing… I use Samsung SSDs exclusively. (Now using NVMe drives first then SSDs) which are recommended by Rose… (Korean synergy at work!)

I’d recommend using them if you can.

Thanks for your reply I will use 2.5 inch SSD
And currently I have cxnv2 from Cambridge audio
Do you think hifi rose rs151 will make a difference

Hi,

Ok so the CXN V2 looks to be discontinued… but it does seem like a nice unit.

It uses the Wolfson DAC chips while Rose uses the ESS Pro chips in their units… with the exception of their flagship RD160 which uses an AKM dac chip. Some do not like the ESS sound and prefer the AKM…
So which DAC chip you prefer is up to you… You may not even notice a difference.

The RS151 is a good unit and would be a bit of an upgrade in some areas.
You may also want to consider the RS451 and save some money. The ESS Pro chip in the RS451 is a different model, but not sure if you could hear a difference between the RS451 and the RS151.

The upside to the 451 is better BT options over the 151 which uses an external dongle for both wifi and bt which limits you to bt 4.2. (Not sure if that is something you’re interested in. )

The upside is that there’s a headphone jack which to the best of my knowledge is a first for Rose.

Your call.

Have already purchased the RS 151 it’s ok its way

Well there you go.

Ok, I think you’ll be happy with it.
Would love to hear your initial impressions.

Of course you’re going to want to read the manual… in fact you can probably download it and read it ahead of time.

Exactly…:+1:t2:

Even if people have golden ears when it comes to what they claim, I’ll do a blind test with them and then we’ll see…

Manual  it’s that difficult to setup ?

Difficulty is a relative thing.

Its always a good idea to read the manual to get a feel for the equipment.

Well some can.
It depends.
What you have to do is take a track of music that you know very well and you can use it to hear differences. But it means listening very carefully to hear the differences.

Its not how you would ordinarily listen to music.

Then you would have to decide what you like and dislike.

If you were a musician … you’d be able to tell the difference… again it helps if you know the song and the specific track.

The average person? They may hear a difference… but would have to think about it. Or not hear any difference.

I was just expecting better soundstage and depth
