How is the HDMI function on the RS130 supposed to work?

Do you know how the hdmi out on the 130 is supposed to work?

I was assuming that I just connect the hdmi out on the 130 to one of the standard hdmi inputs on the tv.

then play something from rosetube and the video would be displayed on the tv and the audio would go out the usb to my dac.

But I keep getting errors when trying to adjust any of the hdmi settings on the 130.

It also looks like if I set the 130 to use the hdmi output, I can’t also use the usb that is connected to my dac (and out to my speakers).

I have RS130, AES to my DAC, and I use the HDMI to my TV and it works as you mentioned: Video goes to the TV and audio goes to DAC. I never enabled the HDMI out (I just checked and it is not enabled). I would suggest disabling the HDMI out and checking the result.
What HDMI settings are you trying to change?

I have the RS130 and using I2S and/or USB to my DAC. The RS130 HDMI port is connected to one of my TV HDMI ports.

To enable playing video on the TV:

Firstly, you have to select to use the HDMI port on the TV that is connected to the RS130. I am using HDMI 4 as shown below:

After HDMI on the TV is selected,

Album cover will be shown on the TV automatically when playing music files. No more actions or settings are required:

However, in order to show Video / RoseTube on the TV, you will need to ensure:

1 )
The TV function at the top right corner on the RS130 screen is set to ON,

2 )
Or select the TV ON function via the Rose Connect App:

Hope above helps

Thanks to both for the suggestions. I was doing exactly as you said but still got the errors from the 130.
I moved the hdmi cable to hdmi 1 on the tv and reset the 130. then things started to work as expected.
although I needed to reduce the hdmi resolution on the 130 to 1080p even though the tv is 4k.
I will leave it alone for now as it is also mirroring want is on the 130 screen which is a nice surprise. I thought it only showed the rosetube videos.
thanks again for the help and quick replies! It is the community like this that makes these bleeding edge gadgets worth sticking with!

Glad to hear that. One suggestion: get a 4K or 8K HDMI cable for the connection, if you haven’t done so.

another update. I used the same cheap hdmi cable but needed to change a setting on the tv. It was an hdmi setting from auto to enhanced. this allowed me to change the display/hdmi settings to 4K.

Congratulations ! Enjoy it.
