i have a crutial SSD and have formatted it by using Rose150b.
I wanted to copy my music library installed in my MAC
I noticed that SSD was formatted as NTFS therefore I can’t use it in my MAC
Do you know how to format for MAC this SSD using hifirose?
There is third party software for the MAC that can read/write to NTFS formatted disks
Use Filezilla with Mac and i use this to edit Rose HD.
btw download free one from their web site since apple as usual trying to buy you pro version via mac store…
Hi @Siri, do you use Filezilla to edit music files in the Rose SSD?
Did you have any success using this software? Can you delete (successfully) files too?
thanks
Hi
Yes , can delete files using filezilla but easiest and best way is to use Mac finder on mac and make sure to set up name and password first on Rose so that you can get to Rose via the mac.
Goto Mac- Go- Connect to server.
Once thats done, you type your IP address on the window and will get a prompt for Rose name you assigned before and the password… Its that simple and now you can see ROSEDISK on your mac desktop… ping me if you have any issues.
Enjoy
Thank you @Siri - I did try many times using just Mac Finder and - yes - my Mac is connected to the Rose and sharing the correct IP address.
Nevertheless, when I tried to delete music files (I had some Miles Davis & John Coltrane albums that had to be renamed/edited…), not only these would not disappear from the Rose’s Music Library, but once I tried to upload the corrected/edited files on the SSD, they showed up as empty/unplayable.
The file names and folders are there and visible on the Mac Finder directory (RoseDisk) but the FLAC files cannot be played.
On both the Rose unit and the Rose App, the files now look ‘empty’ and the tracks cannot be played anymore.
I just wonder how you’ve been able to delete your files? Moreover, even the Rose people have said that the edit/delete option is not available yet as it would require ‘a big big update’. Here’s what was written…
*** Edit file names and removing them will not be updated in near future, it requires a big big update.**
Are you doing something else to be able to edit/delete?
I am pretty tempted to copy all my Music Directory to a hard drive, do all the editing/adjusting/correcting and deleting AWAY from the Rose using some other music software (that’s why I was asking about Filezilla…), then DELETE everything on my SSD and only then re-upload all the cleaned up Music Directory back on to the Rose.
I have asked for an opinion on this to Rose but still awaiting an answer.
Hi
Tks , alessandro for the info and you are right there are some strange things going on with edit using mac on finder and Filezilla since Finder does not show the delete files and FZ also behaving some crazy data. Apologies for the info since I did not check deleted data on Rose streamer or Rose App on mac. Now I can see deleted files on Rose App. What exactly going on here. If I have known that Rose cannot edit (specially delete) I would not have bought this device and now I have to warn my friends about this crazy issue. Lets hope Rose take this seriously and I believe issue may be due to Rose OS that update new music and its meta data.
@Siri thanks for your reply - I was actually hoping that you had found another ‘special’ way of successfully editing and deleting files…!
Never mind…let’s wait for the Rose guys to let us know whether this is something actually feasable and planned in future updates.
I waited nearly a year for Rose to fix some errors connected to CD ripping, so, it takes some time - and they haven’t fixed them all…but - hopefully - issues will be solved as they might begin to understand that file management is so important to optimise users’ experience…bizarelly, they shared this video where it looks like a child’s play to edit and delete files but, as it goes, this is doesn’t actually work… oh well…
We continue to live in hope!
