How to record to a digital device? (RS520)

When I select the coax out and connect to a digital recording deck, there is nothing coming.

At the same time the speaker output is switched off.
That means that I cannot hear what I would like to record.

But first, what do I need to do to get a digital signal from coax out.

I also tried digital speakers on the coax out, but no signal.

@Paulus

We apologize for any inconvenience caused during use.

Preamp and COAX are not output simultaneously.

I have a questions for you.

  1. How do you want to connect and use it?
    The connection configuration is ROSE > AMP > Speaker
    ROSE> COAX> Digital Recording Deck

Thank you

Thanks for your answer.

What I want to do is:

Listen to music that I stream. I can do that by using the speakers.
At the same time I want to record this music thru the coax out.
I am using a Philips DCC recorder that has a coax IN.
As you say, this is not possible at the same time.
So how to do this then?
I can also us an optical signal to the DCC recorder.
(DCC stands for Digital Compact Cassette)

Other thing,
I have digital speakers that get the signal IN form digital coax signal.
When I select coax OUT and connect them there is no sound .
Sample frequencies are: 32 / 44.1 / 48 kHz

How to do it correctly?

Thanks

@Paulus

Please check a few things below.

  1. Is In/Out Setting of RS520 set to COAX OUT?
  2. RS520 → In/Out settings → Detailed settings (gear icon) → Is SoftWare Volume Control On? If it is on, is the volume set low?
  3. Is the DCC or digital speaker set to COAX IN?

Thank you

Hi and thanks again for your answer.

I have been able to set the software volume control to ON.

But still the speaker output is switched OFF when I switch Coax OUT to active.

That means I can still not listen to the sound when coax OUT is selected.

I am obliged to use my headphones and listen from the phones output of my DCC recorder.

I can make a recording however.

Is there a way to activate coax OUT and leave the speakers to active??

And to answer your 3rd question:

There is no setting for this. Just use the correct digital IN connector.

waiting for your next answer.

Thanks.

Paulus

@Paulus

I am sorry for the late reply.

Hi-Fi Rose devices do not output analog and digital output simultaneously.

I have an additional question.

  1. Does the sound come out when Software Volume Control is turned off?
  2. Did you adjust the volume when Software Volume Control is On?
  3. Can you tell me the model name of DCC?

Thank you

Hi,

Here my answers:
1: no sound coming from coax out when software control is not switched ON or when volume is not at 100%. When ON and @ 100% coax output can be used, but no sound from speaker outputs
2: Yes. volume to 100%
3: I collect Philips DCC decks and they all use the same digital input over coax. Types I have are DCC 300, 600, 900 and 951. The 900 and 951 can also use the optical output from RS520 when available.

I really need a coax (or optical) OUT and that I can listen to the loudspeakers at the same time.

The way it works now is that I use coax out to record and listen to the headphone output to hear what I am recording. This is a bit silly for a machine that has set me back €3700,00.

Thanks again

Paulus

@Paulus

It’s strange that the sound only comes out when the volume is set to 100 when the software control is ON.

Please check 2 questions below

  1. What kind of playback did you use? (RS520? External input?)
  2. Is it output when SoftWare Volume control is off?

Thank you

Hello RoseHan,
1: normally I use the speaker outputs on the RS520…
When I want to use and select coax output, the speaker outputs are switched off.

2: In the black book it says that the software volume control must be selected and @ 100%.
Indeed there is signal coming out from the coax to my recording device (Philips DCC) but no sound from the speakers.

What is the trick to do to get what I want??

Thanks again

@ROSEHAN

I am still waiting for a solution for my inquiry.
Even after firmware updates nothing yet.

Pls give me some ideas please.

Paulus

@Paulus

I’m sorry for the late reply.

I’m sorry to tell you but RS520 cannot output both analog and digital at the same time.
