Humming on pre out rca

Hello I receive my RS201 today
I’m connecting the pre Out to an Emotiva XPA power amp.
I’m having a humming on my speakers coming out from the RS201.
Is there any setting I have to adjust
Any help will be appreciated

Let me check few things.

  1. Do you hear the hum noise from the RS201 device or speaker?
  2. Hum noise even when you didn’t play anything?
  3. What’s the exact model name of the power amp? XPA Gen 3?

I hear the hum/static noise from the speakers as soon as I connect the rca connections on the pre out in the back of the RS201
Even when Nothing is playing there is hum/static noise
When I play music I still can hear the hum/static noise
If I connect the speakers direct to the speakers terminals on the back of the RS201 there is no hum noise.

  1. Can you take a photo of your RCA cable?
  2. Are the RS201 and AMP connected to the same plug?
  3. Is it here where you connected?

I’m using Audio Quest Evergreen rca cables.
I switch to a cheap rca cables that I have here to see if the cables are the problem and I can confirm that the cables are not the problem.
The Power amp and the RS201 are connected in different power outlets
The picture you send me on your point number 3 is different than the back of my RS201 I don’t have balance XLR outs
The hum/static noise is present even with the unit turn off.
If I disconnect the power supply the noise is gone (obviously)

About the mention that you said “The hum/static noise is present even with the unit turn off.”
→ Did you turn RS201 off by briefly pressing the power button?
Or did you turn RS201 off by pressing the “restart” button which shows when you press the power button for 5 seconds?

I turn RS201 off by briefly pressing the power button.

This is standby. Not power off.
Few seconds hold will turn it off.

The problem is the humming sound on standby or when the unit is on and when play music.
I try a few streamers with the same Emotiva XPA gen 3. All of them were death silent, no humming or static noise at all.
Streamers I try:
Cambridge audio CXN V2
Cambridge Audio 851 N
Naim Atom
BlueSound Node 2021 new model.

You are kind of rude my friend.
I’m just trying to fix a problem coming from the Rose product.

Ok I ran another test:
I connect the pre out of the RS201E to my NAD T778
I confirm the hum/static noise is present too
I deseable pre out on in/out section and the noise still present.
On standby mode noise is present too
Is like the pre out section is no grounded properly and picking up static noise from the power supply.

Yes I think I got a faulty unit.
What’s the procedure now?
I really don’t want to return the unit and ask my money back.

I’m starting to lose my patience.
It looks nobody cares anymore about my situation anymore.
DHL never contacted me, it’s been a week now.
I can go and leave the RS201E on a DHL store myself I have no problem with that.
what I don’t understand is why I have to wait 3 or 4 weeks to get the new RS201E. Is not my fault that the streamer is defective.
Send the new RS201E to a DHL store and I pick up there and at the same time I deliver the defective unit.
Ask DHL to give me the new unit only if I give the bad unit at the same time.
If this situation doesn’t get resolve next week I will ask my money back
and that includes the $500 on Duties that DHL charge me.
