I am wondering if it is possible to control the audio sync when playing a video with VLC Player on RS201.

If you use VLC Player, you can adjust ± Sync in 50ms increments by using the Audio Delay function.
Press the gear wheel on the ROSE playback screen, there is an Audio Delay menu.
