Just got my RS130 and M Scaler and can't get them to work

Hi All, I noticed that a lot of people have used a chord M Scaler with the hifi rose RS130, but I’m having troubles making the two of them work.

I am currently using USB out from the RS130 into the chord m scaler USB in, followed by bnc 1 ouput into my denafrips terminator coaxial (bnc) input. Hifi Rose USB has been activated and, also I have an external clock connected to the hifi rose. Chord m scaler input is set to USB, but there is no sound, so I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Per the Rose website
Audio output : Optical x 1, Coaxial x 1, AES/EBU OUT x1, HDMI 12S OUT x 1

So I suggest trying the toslink (optical) out from the RS130 to the Chord Hugo M Scaler.

I suspect Rose will tell you that the USBs are not meant for audio out.

Please help us check the following:

  1. When you connect the RS130 to the Chord M Scaler via USB, does the Chord M Scaler DAC appear as an available device in the RS130 output settings?
    To help us verify this more easily, please take a photo of the output settings screen showing what is displayed and share it with us.

  2. When you play music with the RS130 connected to the Chord M Scaler via USB, does the Chord M Scaler receive any signal at all?

  3. Is your RS130 possibly set to mute?

  4. When connecting the RS130 to the Chord M Scaler using methods other than USB, do you still experience no sound?
