Hi,
I’m still getting acquainted with the RS250 I bought a month or two ago. I could have sworn that at one point I could stream directly from my MacBook Pro to the RS250 by selecting it as an output choice in place of “MacBook Pro Speakers.” Did I make this up? Would someone be kind enough to explain to me how to do it? The RoseConnect app works just fine, but there are things I’d like to stream through the RS250 that don’t appear accessible using the app. Thanks so much.
There is a way to connect MacBook Pro and RS250 via USB to play music on MacBook Pro and have the sound come out through RS250. There is also a way to connect MacBook Pro and RS250 via Bluetooth.
I will assume that you have connected via USB.
- RS250a and PC are connected via USB IN
- RS250a > Input/Output Setting > Set on USB IN
- PC > Windows lower right volume area > Click on right mouse > Select volume mixer
- Select speaker > speaker properties > Advanced
- Advanced > Default Format > Select one of the 32-bit, 44,100 ~ 384,000 Hz (studio quality)
- Check if you can hear the sound.
Hi,
Thanks so much for your reply. I’m actually connecting through my wireless network. I’m running the Rose app with no problem on the computer, so in someways it knows how to find it. It’s only when I want to play something that doesn’t go through the app where it doesn’t appear to see the RS250.
Thanks again,
Peter
You could turn Airplay on and stream directly from your Mac that way, but otherwise with a wireless connection Rose does not present any kind of system output to your computer. You need to connect it with USB for that.
Thanks, Boris. That did the trick. I hadn’t realized that I needed to turn Airplay on, on the RS250 before connecting to the Rose.
You’re welcome. Mind that Airplay is not Hi-Res though, so everything will be down sampled.
Oh yes. I was going to say something about that but didn’t want to appear ungrateful. It’s just good to know how it works and to be able to use it when I need it.
