McIntosh Blue VU meters - Poof, they're gone

I see that the McIntosh style blue VU meters have disappeared with the latest release. I presume the McIntosh lawyers had a discussion with the Hifi Rose lawyers and, poof, it went away. Too bad.

It’s just a colour !!
Come on - really disappointed.

The issue was the naming scheme Hifi Rose used for that color option. It could lead to consumer confusion with another brand which is the lowest threshold a competitive brand needs to pass for there to be a trademark infringement. IF Hifi Rose changed the name of the color but not the color itself there would be no issue. Their legal counsel should have advised them of that but I am sure one of the technical people got a threatening letter from a competitor and Hifi Rose caved on the spot instead of simply renaming the color which would also have been a satisfactory outcome for everyone.

Agree with all of you. Not surprised McIntosh raised a stink. They’re highly protective of the brand and will stop anyone using it without authorization. I’ve had McIntosh gear in my systems for over 45 years and loved the VU meters on my 150B. Although, the color didn’t quite match my preamp next to it.
Hey Rose engineeers, how about allowing us to custom select colors like almost any RGB light out there now?
