Mcintosh C55 Preamp

My Mac has a built in DAC, I want to purchase a streamer only to hook to my C55. Will the RS 130 be a good fit for my setup? I welcome any comments or recommendations.

marquis4099,

I have the RS 130. I think it would go very well with your C55. Bear in mind that the learning curve on the RS 130 software is significant. However, to be fair the latest improvements in the software make it class leading although very deep and complicated. Best of luck in whatever you choose.

I had a RS130 hooked to my Mac C2800. It was a fine match. I used both the Toslink connection as well as the coax, no difference that I could tell. Keep in mind that the C55 is Roon Ready and that if you are interested in streaming only, a Roon Nucleus is a good way to start without the large upfront investment.

The AIYIMA X HYFIOO DM100 would actually suffice, since you’re only tapping into the digital signal. It costs a fraction of the price and is open source. But everyone buys what they want.

If your goal is to follow the current hype, buy the RS130. If you prefer to make a decision based on technical reasoning rather than trends, I would recommend taking a closer look at @Bonte ’s post above.

Yes, if you are looking for a pure streamer without DAC functionality, the RS130 would be an excellent choice.

The RS130 is designed as a high-performance network transport and offers a variety of digital output options, making it a great match for high-end audio systems such as the C55.

If your system has a compatible digital input, the RS130 can provide excellent sound quality and stable streaming performance.

Thank you.
