MQA Indication Light for Tidal

If you are streaming music from Tidal on the Rose RS150, how can you tell if it’s actually being played as MQA on the Rose unit?

Of course I’m playing music that’s marked as MQA in Tidal. Seems like a indication light would show as such either on the Rose screen or the TV screen.

Thanks David

Rose Connect app shows blue or green dot next to MQA logo while playing MQA file …

Thanks to @Michal ,

Please check this.

So it only shows up on my tablet and not the screen of the Rose unit?

Nope, it shows up on the unit display.

I guess someone needs glasses

Well there you go. Thanks guys for the reply. Probably do need glasses. LOL!
So that does show up but most of the MQA songs seem to appear at 24/48. I was just expecting a little better bit rate with MQA. I was just unsure if it was unfolding to the final stage.

I seem to have more music that is shown as a green indication as opposed to blue.
However I just played the new Adel and it does show up as a blue dot.
I assume that is the final fold.

David,
I hear you regarding MQA and all BUT please be aware:

  1. MQA is lossy compression
  2. MQA is software trickery with digital DSP. It only adds more highs and spreads scene wider therefore sounds pleasing.
  3. MQA will never sound as good as DSD or DXD because → 1 above

I got caught in all marketing hype regarding MQA as well but now after 3 different streamers and 9 months of listening I can tell you: NOT WORTH IT.
If original mastering is f****d no MQA snake oil can help. After all there is a reason why some hardware manufacturers decided NOT to implement it (eg. NAIM). Check what Paul of PS Audio said about MQA:

Just my thoughts.

Hi luxury_scruff,
If you don’t mind me asking.
What’s the make of the unit on top the streamer mate?
It looks superb especially having the full band equaliser. I run a Technics SH-8075 in my sound system too.
Regards Matt.

I love it!
